Model Answer 1

When was it?

It was a pleasant morning in March when my family decided to go camping. We’ve been planning this day for some time now as it is quite difficult to have all the family members together. Since everyone in the family is a working professional, most of them are mostly traveling for work and are never at home. But we had finally managed a weekend when we could go camping like old times. As a kid, camping was my favorite activity and we used to do that very often.

Why did it prevent your activity?

We were all set to leave for camping. Once all the things which we needed for the camp were packed, we all jumped inside the car and started our weekend. We went to the nearby supermarket to take a few more things which came to our mind last minute.

What did you do?

As we were leaving the place, suddenly it started drizzling. We didn’t think much of it, as drizzles are very common and keep happening every time, washing the city clean. But within 5 minutes, it almost started pouring, the road in front of us wasn't visible anymore. We decided to stop for a while and wait for the rain to stop. 30 minutes into waiting, we switched to a news channel and there was news of flooding in certain areas and alerts were sent out to stay in.

Explain how you felt about it?

On hearing the news, I was disheartened, as I knew there was no way we were going camping anymore. After waiting for a few minutes more, we turned around and headed back home. All of us were pretty sad about the situation but my brother suddenly came up with the idea to replicate the camping scene at home. We already had all the food and the games, so we thought of giving it a go. We cleared the living area and built the tent right at the center of the room and got in to play games and relax. The rain got much worse but I was glad we stayed in and had such a great family time- playing games, eating snacks, watching movies, and relaxing. It truly felt like the family was back together and nothing’s changed.

Model Answer 2

When was it?

There was finally a cricket match happening in my city and my entire family was super thrilled to see the match live at the stadium. My father had waited for hours in a long queue to get us all tickets to the game. Finally, when the day arrived, we were all so excited. He reached the stadium hours before to secure our seats with a great view and was all set to watch the match.

India had won the toss and chose to bat.

Why did it prevent your activity?

Before any player could come on the field, it started drizzling and within minutes it started raining heavily. Since no team had scored any runs, the match was subsequently canceled for the day. We waited for some time to see if it would stop raining, but after about an hour, it was still raining pretty heavily. We gave up all our hopes and headed back home sulking.

What did you do?

We returned home to know that the match was canceled and each team was given 1 point each, hence it was a tie match. Everyone had anticipated that this match would’ve been a gamechanger in the overall scoreboard but now everyone was just cursing the weather, us included. We were pretty drenched by the time we were back home and decided to take a hot shower to prevent falling ill.

Explain how you felt about it?

My father suggested that since we’ve been hyping about this game so much, we should watch a historical cricket match which was won by India on the internet. We knew it wouldn't be the same but we all agreed as we all wanted to see a cricket match. We watched the 2011 world cup final between India and Sri Lanka.

We didn’t realize how much we loved the sport until we saw ourselves cheering, cursing, yelling at the TV screen over a match whose result we already knew. Yes, the rain spoiled our chance to watch a live game but we still had a great ending to the day.

Model Answer 3

When was it?

My best friend was visiting my hometown for the first time. I was super excited to show her around and had made a long list of places I would take her. We had been planning it for weeks now and I couldn’t wait anymore. She finally reached on a Friday afternoon and was thrilled to start with the city adventure.

Why did it prevent your activity?

We didn’t waste any time at all and started by exploring the museums. Being history students, we were always fascinated by historical places, and the city had lots of historical ruins. By Saturday, we were done with the major historical places. We were just walking down to this small aesthetic place to eat when the weather got rather windy.

What did you do?

We somehow managed to reach the restaurant but by then the wind got pretty strong - Strong enough to blow all the billboards away and cut electric cables. We were reasonably terrified seeing the situation and soon on the news we saw that our area was going to be hit by a hurricane. Everyone was alerted and was asked to reach home as soon as they could, as the wind was going to pick speed.

Explain how you felt about it?

We luckily had the car and hurried back home. Everyone was pretty worried at home about the two of us. On reaching home, we had to make sure, all the doors and windows were properly closed and all phones were charged because there was a high possibility of a power cut. After making sure we had taken the necessary precautions, we finally sat down. My friend was not disheartened that we couldn’t finish touring the city, rather she was worried about the outcome of this hurricane. With time, it got worse and was followed by thunder and lightning, which killed a few pedestrians as per reports. We were sitting helplessly, feeling numb and praying for everyone’s well-being.
