Describe an Occasion When Many People were Smiling Cue Card

Who you were with?

My cousin who lived in the United States had returned to India to get married. His friends, colleagues from the United States, relatives, near and dear ones all were invited for this grand and memorable occasion. I was in Bangalore at the time. I made all the arrangements and reached the venue on time along with one of my other cousins. The celebration was organised at the most expensive resort in Jaipur which was beautifully adorned with beautiful decorations. As I reached the venue, I was appalled after looking at the decorations. My cousin's parents greeted me with a huge smile and a long hug as I had seen them after a long time.

What happened?

Undoubtedly, the event was an epitome of grandeur. There were all sorts of arrangements for all guests including sumptuous dishes and drinks. The guests were amazed on seeing the resort decorated wonderfully and were also enjoying the food. All the guests could be seen smiling and enjoying the lip-smacking food, the ambience and the exteriors of the resort. The arrangements were spot on. My cousin had also invited one of the famous comedians who entertained people with hilarious jokes which again made the guests enjoy the event even more.

And explain why many people were smiling?

Weddings are undeniably a happy occasion. These are times when people forget about all their worries and enjoy themselves thoroughly. Besides, my cousin's wedding was a grand event. With dozens of cameras all around, the decor, the exteriors along with the hilarious jokes of the comedian made the guests laugh out loud and brought a huge smile on their faces. Everyone, including the newly wed couple were elated and smiling, which made the event even more successful.

Who you were with?

We decided to commute by bus as there were so many of us. There were a total of 20 people. We were all excited for this trip as it was our first ever trip to Himachal Pradesh and we had been planning for a long time now.

What happened?

We embarked on our journey early in the morning at 6.00 AM. Even though it hardly takes only about 2.5 -3 hours to reach our destination, we wanted to make the most of this short trip. Along the way we sang songs, played a dozen games, chatted and stopped in between at a few places to click pictures. Even though it was a short journey, we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Everyone was smiling and laughing out loud during the entire journey.

And explain why many people were smiling?

All of us were extremely elated as it was our first ever trip to a hill station. Himachal is a beautiful town and I being a fan of the hill station we were extremely thrilled. The excitement of seeing the lush green hills for the first time made us even more happy which thereby brought a huge smile on our faces. It was one of the days that I will never forget and it still brings a huge smile on my face as it was a fun and memorable trip. Another thing that brought a smile to our faces was because all of us, my cousins, school friends and everyone were together for the first time ever. I don't think we all could have ever planned a trip like this ever.

Who you were with?

My family and I were sitting in our living room when my friend called to say that my competitive exam result was out. I have been preparing for the competitive exam for about a year now. I had sacrificed a lot to prepare well for the exams.

What happened?

I had deactivated all my social media accounts, not seen any movies or series since a year ago. I had not been out with friends. In short I had disconnected all connections to the real world and anything that would cause distractions in my journey of successfully preparing for the exam. Thus, I was eagerly waiting for my results. When my friend called I immediately opened the respective portal to view my results.

Explain why many people were smiling?

I was shocked on seeing the results as I had scored exceptionally well and had acquired a rank in the top ten. After seconds of shock, the results brought a huge smile on my and my family's face. I was elated to no bounds as after months of struggle and effort I will finally be employed in one of the reputed public sector undertakings in the country. Everyone in the family was happy and congratulated me on my hard work and perseverance. They felt proud as no one in the family had firstly opted for an engineering field and secondly no one had done this well in the competitive exams. It was the best moment of my life when everyone was happy smiling. I, on the other hand, was overwhelmed with emotions.
