Model Answer 1

Who was the person?

A person can best reveal their ideas, experiences, intentions through meaningful conversations. I’ve spoken to many people in life, but I had an unforgettable experience when my tutor and I sat down for a small talk.

The place and time of the conversation

She explained to me how studies were a significant aspect of shaping our careers. Along with studies, she stressed how extracurricular activity forms an integral part of our lives. This happened when I was in class 10th. She used to reach me at my home. She educated me on how other activities help in boosting our confidence, focus on our goals, and hone our skills in life.

A brief description of the conversation

She explained the importance of mental health and physical health and how they go hand in hand. She further said that practical applications outweigh theoretical knowledge, and hence co-curricular activities play a vital role as we grow. She suggested that I indulge in at least one activity of my interest, be it music, sports, dance, art, etc. She later shared her experience on how her talent in arts helped her in life. She had a great affinity for drawing and painting. She used to express her emotions and feelings through her artwork. She even told how it proved to be a framework in building a lucrative career from her talent. Besides tutoring children, she started freelancing and began selling commissioned artworks. This conversation boosted my enthusiasm to start working towards my goals and focus on areas of my interest. I realized how overall development spikes our confidence and morale in today's corporate world. Eventually, I learned that we must make time out of our mundane lives to read the book which we always wanted to, or cook a recipe we always craved for or hit the gym which we always deferred.

Model Answer 2

Who was the person?

As journalism students, we had to do a project for our internal assessment in the field of mass media communication. I got the opportunity to meet Anupama Chopra, a notable film critic.

The place and time of the conversation

I had to interview her on how cinemas influence the audience. I got to interview her at the promo of a movie after the end of the movie. It was already evening and hence, she had time for an interview. After a formal greeting, we delved deeper into the topic of Bollywood cinemas. We later discussed the pros and cons of Bollywood flicks. She was firm and articulate when she expressed her opinions.

A brief description of the conversation

She said that movies can influence a person potentially, be it good or bad. And this was because people tried to emulate or imitate their favorite biggies. She expressed her dissent in movies that stuck to patriarchal and misogynistic plots. Movies like Kabir Singh, Dabangg, etc. were celebrated for their success at the box office despite the social stigmas portrayed in the film.

People often fall prey to these plots and start to normalize things that are illegal or bad. She said that we often absorb what we see. She even pointed out how critical ratings played a significant role in the film industry. Most of the audience check reviews before buying their tickets, and this has had a very positive impact. She also said that there has been a considerable improvement in the content of movies these days, citing examples like Thappad, Pink, etc. She later concluded her monologue with an impactful speech regarding the empowerment of women in the industry.

Model Answer 3

Who was the person?

I, for one, believe that conversations always amplify joy, and excitement and lessen our pain and suffering. It often helps us enrich our knowledge based on other’s experiences. When it comes to an interesting conversation, I remember the small talk which happened with my mother.

The place and time of the conversation

I was about to leave home and settle abroad for further studies, and I was anxious and scared. She shared with me her profound knowledge about the concept of gratitude and affirmations. She threw light upon the fact that the meager things in our lives often go unappreciated and how we realize their value once we lose it. The power to manifest anything, be it relationships, good grades, or even luxury, all lies within our own hands.

A brief description of the conversation

She even suggested that I maintain a gratitude journal daily, in which I could list down all the things for which I am grateful in my life. Even though it sounded scholarly or philosophical, gratitude can prove to be our knight in shining armor during distressing times. She explained how luminous people like Einstein, Newton, William Shakespeare, Leonardo da Vinci have practiced it and have depicted the concept of gratitude through their works.

I sat down to ruminate about this conversation. I started practicing the art of gratitude and affirmations. I began to realize how we can harness the abundance of nature, love, luxury just by being thankful for everything that surrounds us. It left a deep impression on me and changed the outlook of my life for the better. Her advice completely replaced all my negative thoughts with positive visions. And as I write this, I am very grateful to my mother for sharing this valuable piece of advice with me as well as for the greater good.
