Model Answer 1

What exam it was?

I am an Agricultural Engineering student and when I appeared for the entrance examination to this field, it was a new and tough experience for me. It was one of the toughest exams I have ever taken in my life. I didn’t perform well in the exam and was scared to look at the result. In fact, I told my sister to check my result as I was very afraid of checking the result myself.

How old you were when you sat for that exam?

It is a very common procedure of the universities in India to conduct the entrance examination before admitting the student to the desired course. I appeared for the entrance exam at one of the best agricultural universities in India . This college was far away from my house and due to bad traffic, I was 15 minutes late for the exam day. Being late was risky for me and the college authority was not allowing me to let me take the exam. But after requesting for half an hour, they finally let me enter the examination hall. Half an hour was already wasted and I was feeling an immense pressure at that time. As soon as I opened the question paper, I was shocked to see the level of the examination and got nervous while solving it as most of the questions seemed unfamiliar to me!

How long it took?

The question paper pattern was totally changed from the pattern that was mentioned on the Internet. This was even a bigger blow to me. I was unable to answer most of the questions and wanted to get out of the examination hall as soon as possible. It was a suffocating and perplexing experience. I was very disappointed with my performance in the examination.

Explain why it was an important exam for you

As I recall, I didn't even go to see my result as I knew I would perform very poorly. I asked my sister to check the result and she informed me that I have cleared the cutoff and there are possibilities of getting admission in the last counseling round. The bad traffic, reasoning with the exam authority, unexpected question patterns and my anxiety made it even harder! Finally, I got admission to the desired course in the last counseling round.

What exam it was?

Exams are meant to be hard because they are set to test our “knowledge”. But there are soe exams that I am really afraid of because of their difficulty level. Today, I would like to talk about one such exam that left me “shattered’ for many months.

How old you were when you sat for that exam?

It was my final mathematics examination of the cbse board for class 12th. I wanted to score high in this course because it can help me to get the admission to my dream college. So, I knew what kind of an uphill battle it was going to be because so many high school students - brilliant and smart students that are - from around the country were going to fight for their places in that particular high school. I was also mentally prepared for the exam, but a little bit scared and nervous too because the syllabus of this course includes many challenging formulas and problems from algebra, geometry and trigonometry. So, on the final examination day, when I went to the examination hall, everyone seemed to be very confident but I was losing my confidence level.

How long it took?

The question paper was handed out to me, and I immediately started attempting the paper. However, after starting to answer the questions, I found some of the questions to be very complex and lengthy, I was taking a bit longer than usual to answer most of the questions. Even more bad news was waiting for me when I found that the questions in the geometry sections were way tougher than I had initially anticipated. This made me feel nervous and I lost my complete confidence and left many questions unanswered due to this reason.

Explain why it was an important exam for you

Anyway, the exam was hard for me mainly because I couldn’t manage my time properly in answering many of the questions. Besides, most of the questions in the geometry section didn’t quite match the question pattern I was hoping for. Finally, it became hard for me also because I started to panic and couldn’t quite focus on understanding the questions in the geometry section.

Model Answer 3

What exam it was?

Before my admission to Auburn University in the US, I had to appear for a GRE test. Due to the high level of English in the examination, my English section was a little bit weaker as per the requirement of the GRE test. So, it turned out to be a very difficult test for me.

How old you were when you sat for that exam?

Generally, the GRE score is used by most of the USA universities to allow candidates to take admission. It is very important to increase your vocabulary for clearing this examination. Particularly, the analytical writing and critical thinking sections are considered to be easier as compared to the English section.

How long it took?

I appeared in this test last year. I was in a hurry to take the test for the admission to Auburn University as I wanted to continue my studies without delaying it. The candidates normally prepare for the analytical, verbal and quantitative reasoning sections of the test and practice a lot. But this was not the case for me. I prepared for the English section harder and harder.

Explain why it was an important exam for you

The test turned out to be very hard for me because the English section was easier as expected but the analytical skills and quantitative reasoning section was tough which was not much practiced by me. I still attempted the paper and cleared it with a good score and hence ended up getting admission to the dream university.
