Model Answer 1

When it was?
Human beings have a various kinds of emotions. They can be of joy, sadness, fear, pride and many more. I am going to share an event that made me feel unhappy. It was last week when I bought an ear-pod of a big brand hoping it will turn out to be extremely good and will last me a good amount of time. I placed the order online during the Republic Day sale on a shopping website.

What happened?

I was overjoyed when the product arrived within two days. After the discount, I paid Rs 8000 for it. At that price, it was a steal. It ran smoothly for the first few days. It had excellent sound quality and a captivating touch feature. However, after two days, the touch stopped working and the sound in one of the ear pods was reduced to 50%.

Where were you then?

I contacted customer care to seek assistance. They assured me that my issue would be resolved and promised a refund. However, I was not happy to hear that instead of an exchange I was being given a refund. I had high hopes for it due to its positive reviews.

Explain why you felt so unhappy?

I was dissatisfied as I spent my hard-earned money on it. Despite the fact that the money will be refunded, I will no longer be able to trust online shopping websites. I've decided to buy such items only from physical stores from now on. In addition, I discovered that not everything that glitters is gold. If a product is heavily discounted, we should think twice before ordering.

Model Answer 2

When it was?
Emotions are psychological changes that occur due to responses given to external stimulus. They can be of various types like sadness, joy, disgust, happiness and so on. I want to talk about a situation when I felt extremely unhappy about an event.

What happened?
I started working as a graphic designer for a start-up six months ago. My coworkers were all extremely pleasant, and I learned a lot from them. Every weekend, the HR-team hosts a small get-together full of games and fun. This time, they were looking for new ideas, and the new HR intern was in charge of organising the entire event. She approached me and asked me to assist her. I didn't have much work, so I offered to assist her.

Where were you then?

Eventually, we came up with the idea to hold an online Ludo Olympic which would be held over a period of three weeks. However, the team did not know that I am intensely involved in organizing this event. She took all the credit without mentioning my name once which I didn't feel happy about. I worked really hard and dedicated most of my time to do all the work related to the event. However, when she did not bring up my name even once, I was really unhappy about it.

Explain why you felt so unhappy?

I realised that I need to draw a line as I have this habit of going out of the way to help people. After spending tireless nights and waking up with baggy eyes, the least I hoped for was some appreciation from my colleague. However, this incident has helped me to make some amends in the way I will now work at my workplace.

Model Answer 3

When it was?
Speaking is a tool that can help us feel better. When we share an incident that makes us feel bad, the unsettling emotions subside and we feel a little relieved. What I'm about to say will most likely make me feel good as well. I'd like to tell you about an event that made me unhappy.

What happened?

When I was in my final semester, I really needed to raise my CGPA to 8 in order to be admitted to the top university in my city for master's programme admission. I put in a lot of effort, but when the results came in, my CGPA was 7.8. I was extremely disappointed because I had given that semester my all. Day in and day out, I worked on all of the critical subjects that required more attention.

Where were you then?

I cut back on my socialising and didn't waste time watching movies or playing online games. I put in extra study time and prepared every topic I thought would be important for the exam. Because having an 8 CGPA was critical for my admission. I planned and acted accordingly. However, when the outcome was announced, I was disappointed.

Explain why you felt so unhappy?

I hoped to raise my average, but despite my best efforts, I was unable to do so. This nearly broke me, but I've accepted the situation and decided to apply to another recognised university. I intended to switch in the second year because they allow for lateral entry. It can be painful when you put in so much effort and still don't get what you want. I have channelized that in a positive direction and I am hopeful to make it into my first preferred university.
