Model Answer 1

When did this happen?

Children learn art and craft activities at home and at school. I remember doing many Art and Craft activities at school. One of the most memorable activities was preparing props for the annual function. Me and 2 of my friends were given the responsibility. We used to visit the drama class and understand what the act was about. Then, we used to plan the props that will best suit the activity. I loved leading the whole program. Also, it was something I was interested in.

What did you do in the activity?

One year, the act that was being performed was “The Monkey’s Paw”. It is a horror short story by author W. W. Jacobs. We had to prepare the most important prop “A Monkey’s Paw”. My friends decided to check images online. We checked multiple images on how a monkey’s paw should look like. Then we started to formulate a plan on how to build a paw. I was good at craft. My other friends were good at it as well. We had a great time researching the whole thing. The most amazing part was creating something frreal from just an idea.

Who did you do it with?

We started with clothes that are the same color as skin. Once we got the outer structure sewn, we filled it with cotton and hard pieces of clothes in it. It slowly came to a structure. We then started to color the paw made of clothes and cotton. After 3 hours of grueling struggle, we finally managed to end the task. Once finished, we all looked at the cotton made monkey’s paw.

Explain how you felt about this activity?

We were very delighted to see the outcome of our work. We also prepared props for the students who were performing in the act. It was a tedious job. On the day of the annual function, when we saw the props come to life, we were very happy. Our principal appreciated the outcome and our efforts.

Model Answer 2

When did this happen?

With the advent of modern world, the interest in art and crafts are fading day by day. I have tried to retain arts and crafts since my childhood days. I am a painter in my leisure time. Painting is my hobby which I have continued since childhood. I still remember one incident when I was in 9th grade. My school was participating in an inter school contest which had many competitions like quiz, cricket, arts and crafts etc.

What did you do in the activity?

As my class teacher already knew about my arts and crafts skills, she asked me to submit a project. I was very happy that I was the one who got selected. At the same time, I was very nervous as I was representing my school.

Who did you do it with?

I went home and talked with my arts and craft teacher, Sir Kalyan Banerjee. We both formulated an idea of building a school with household items like matchbox, tissue paper etc. The things that people throw away after use. We collected hundreds of such items and started building the project. It took me 15 days to finish the project. I was very happy with the end result. We have lights fitted inside to give the school an attractive look. I had painted the school in white and blue. It was nice and my parents and friends appreciated the hard work and the outcome. I also built a playground with miniature figures of students playing. The ground was located in front of the school. However, the ultimate test would be at the inter school contest.

Explain how you felt about this activity?

After I presented the projects, the judges were very happy. I was awarded the first prize and the principal looked delighted. It was a very proud moment for me. I have never looked back since then. I feel happy and passionate about arts and crafts. It is one thing that I will continue doing till the end of my life.

When did this happen?

I had very pathetic and poor handwriting in school. My teachers and my parents tried to teach me handwriting skills. I remember an incident which changed my writing for years to come. I was in 5th grade and it was summer holidays. I generally used to visit my uncle’s place during the holidays.

This time, to my surprise, my uncle visited my place. He also brought a gift for me. It was a book where you can practise handwriting. I was very pissed at first but when I saw the book, I was stunned. The book was about calligraphy and practicing calligraphy. I started showing interest in the subject. It was not similar to handwriting practice where you have to write continuously. The words and alphabets were like diagrams and images. I got really attracted and influenced by it. It was something I never thought of. It was a great thing to improve my writing.

Who did you do it with?

My uncle stated that I will be doing an activity for 10 days and practise cursive writing. I started developing an interest in cursive writing. In a matter of 7 days, my handwriting naturally improved. I was shocked to see the results myself. I began writing freely, and in no time, my handwriting became impressive. My uncle also bought a book with dotted lines which improves the style of writing. I became a calligrapher. The way I used to write became very popular. My teachers were really impressed by me.
