Describe a Typical Day In Your Life When You Were a Child Cue Card

What kind of games or sports did you play?

Once I stepped into the school campus, I would run towards my class and sit with my best friend. His name was Akshay. We would attend our classes sincerely, share lunch and play games together. He was as studious as me so we used to teach each other the concepts. The bond I shared with him was extremely unique for me who was never good at making friends. While returning from the school bus’s window, I would see my mother waiting for me with a smile. As soon as I stepped down from it, she would take my bag and we would walk home.

Who looked after you?

After having lunch, I would relax for a while and then play with kids who lived in my apartment. In the evening I would go to my music classes. My mother inspired me to learn a musical instrument and I used to learn piano. After classes, I would return to do my homework. My mother would then call out everyone for dinner. My whole family would sit together and enjoy a delicious meal. Post dinner I would draw something as I used to enjoy painting. My mother would sit with me and suggest colours for my drawing. Once the clock would strike 10, I was instructed to go fall asleep and after a tiring day, I would sleep within minutes. On the days that I couldn’t fall asleep, my mother would read fairy tales until I slept.

What kind of games or sports did you play?

Many times we were scolded by the teachers for playing in the sun but as children, we did not care about falling ill. After returning, I would eat lunch with my mother and I must say she possessed magical culinary skills. Even simple Chapatis and vegetables would taste like heaven.

Who looked after you?

My mother would compel me to take a nap while I didn’t even feel sleepy. In the evening I would ride bicycles with my friends in the nearby park. As I recall, my father and mother both would sit together with me and help me complete my homework. Around 9 pm, we all would have dinner and then for an hour I was allowed to watch television. After an hour, I would fall asleep and my mother would tuck me in the bed. Those days were routined but they still are my favourite moments of life. Now that I have grown up into an adult and started working, I have to look for myself. I often talk to my mother about how easy life was when she would care for me and I didn’t have to worry about what food I had to cook or save money to pay rent. Adulthood has its own struggles but childhood is synonymous to unbound freedom.

What kind of games or sports did you play?

I am not in touch with my mother and lately, I got to know she died in a road accident. It was sad to hear the news but I have never been close to her. My father would wake up as early as I did and packed my lunch for school. Neither I was talkative nor I had many friends. Therefore, I would just focus on my studies. I enjoyed the English period as the teacher was funny and his method of teaching always captured my attention. After coming from school, Ranjan Bhaiyya who was a household would ensure that I eat my lunch. After that, I would spend my time doing homework and in the evening, I would ride a bicycle in my colony. T

Who looked after you?

There was no child of my age in my colony, so I was pretty much a loner. I would return after an hour and watch some tv while waiting for my father to return home. Together we would have dinner and talk a little. If I had any doubt in my studies, he would help me clear it else we would just eat and then go to sleep. Even now I have the same routine except that instead of going to school, I go to the office, work, and come back home. There are some colleagues at workplace with whom I have bonded over time. We sometimes hang out and I feel my life has not changed much.
