Model Answer 1

What is it?

India is a country where traditional values are respected and taught to the next generations. We have many famous traditions among which folding hands and welcoming people is very famous. Every Indian parent teaches their children to greet others by saying namaste. I would like to show my gratitude for this opportunity and regard the standard of the topic. In this topic, I will descrive this tradition to the world.

Who takes part in it?

This is purely a tradition which shows respect and love towards others. This greeting is similar to the English greeting of hello, but it conveys a deeper meaning and a high level of respect. I have learned this from my parents. they have brought me and my brother up with great values. Everyone, takes part in it. If anyone does not greet other with namaste, Indian society regards him as a bad child. The term “Namaste” is derived from both Hinduism and yoga. We usually do this to elders and greet them with namaste.

What activities there are?

The term first appeared in Sanskrit, where it means "bowing to you" or "I bow to you." In western culture, people welcomed others by bowing. These all have similar meanings, but different style in different culture. Namaste is now used to greet others. Sanskrit is one of the oldest languages, with a rich Hindu literature developed over time. Sanskrit is now a learned language and the language of the upper classes. According to classical texts, only the priestly class was permitted to speak, read, and write Sanskrit. It is still used as a lingua franca among various learned scholars today. My parents and elders expected my siblings and me, especially me as the eldest child, to greet relatives by touching their feet. Namaste is derived from the Sanskrit term namaá, which literally means "bow, obeisance, adoration.". We use namaste to show respect to elders or the one who passes away. We also do namaste to idols, deity and gods.

And explain how you feel about it?

I feel that the traditional values of people should continue. Or else, there will be chaos in the world. This Indian tradition teaches to respect their parents and elders, greeting others by joining hands is one such tradition. I feel that we should keep on following the traditions. it brings joy and happiness in life.

Model answer 2

What is it?

Thank you for giving me this auspicious opportunity to speak about Indian traditions, which are the most interesting to me. India is a country that can trace its roots back to ancient civilization. India is a country founded on the values and traditions of ancient civilizations. The Indus Valley civilization, which existed between 2500 and 1700 BCE, was contemporaneous with Mesopotamian, yellow, and Egyptian civilizations. During the Rig Vedic period, cultural development gained prominence. Since then, a number of traditions have been carried on until the present day.

Who takes part in it?

The traditions and cultures in India are not singular, traditions in India are diversified region to region. Traditions depend upon the geography as well as economical and political situation of the region. The Maha Kumbh Mela is one such tradition. It is celebrated in Prayagraj, also known as Allahabad, which is a major pilgrimage site for Hindus. Legend has it that river confluences are auspicious places, but in Sangam, the significance of the confluence is most holy and pious here, where the holy rivers Ganga, Yamuna Saraswati, and a mythical river all meet to become one.

What activities there are?

According to ancient texts, Vishnu, the god of all three worlds, was carrying a pot (kumbh) of nectar (amrit) when the four drops fell here. They landed on Mrityu Lok, or Earth, at four locations known as Tirthas: Prayag, Haridwar, Nasik, and Ujjain. It is a location where followers can find salvation. The Kumbh Mela commemorates and celebrates the event every three years. It is held on a regular basis in all of the mentioned locations; the Sangam is known as Tirtharaj, which means "King of Tirthas" in Sanskrit. The Kumbh is commemorated once every twelve years at the tirthraj and is considered the greatest and holiest of all.

And explain how you feel about it?

Long back a time astrologers have determined the auspicious bathing time. The first to hit the water is by legions of Naga Sadhus, who draw their bodies with ash and carry hair in long dreadlocks. The most recent Maha Kumbh Mela was held in 2013 and the next is due in 2025.

Model Answer 3

What is it?

I am obliged to get an opportunity to describe an Indian tradition. Sankirtan is a must witnessing tradition followed in the Northern Eastern region of India particularly in Manipur. This tradition has been designated as a cultural heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. This recognition implies that Sankirtan should be kept in a museum.Sankirtana has a range of arts performed to remark various religious occasions and different stages in the life of the Vaishnava, natives of Manipur. This tradition is commemorated in temples, where the performers cite the lives and leela of lord Krishna in the form of music and dance.

What activities there are?

Two drummers and nearly ten singer-dancers are part of the traditional performance. They perform in a small auditorium, preferably a hall or a domestic porch, surrounded by seated devotees. The dignity and flow of aesthetic and religious energy is commendable, frequently bringing audience members to tears and causing them to prostrate themselves in front of the performers. Sankirtana has two dimensions: social and cultural. To begin with, it strengthens the fraternity and acts as a unifying force in Manipur's Vaishnava community. Through a life-cycle tradition, it also establishes and strengthens friendly relationships among community members.

And explain how you feel about it?

This tradition of Manipur is an auspicious and joyful tradition which harnesses an organic relationship with people: the whole society is involved in its protection, with the specific knowledge and skills traditionally passed onto disciples by the learned gurus. Sankirtana works in harmony with the natural world, whose presence is acknowledged through its many rituals.
