Since he is sensitive to several foods, I figured it would be best to bring him over and prepare meals for him since I am aware that he does not enjoy eating out. I made all the necessary preparations because I knew that his favourite foods are custard and biryani. By 7:30 night, all the preparations were finished, and he arrived around 8. We laughed heartily as we relived all of our favourite childhood memories.

Which food items were ordered?

He remains the same, and so has our relationship. Every sensation was same. We placed a dinner order that included mutton and chicken Biryani. As a dessert, custard was served. I felt such joy for him. I gave him a glimpse of my favourite photo album. It includes images of my loved ones and close pals. The photo album almost seems to be expressing to us how much time has gone but nothing has changed.

What did you talk about during the meal?

We also discussed how much I enjoy cooking and how I've learned about and experimented with a variety of cuisines. Meeting up and catching up on each other's lives after a long absence was amazing. We also played his favourite game, chess, after dinner.

When we were kids, we used to play chess every day in the evening after school. He generally used to win but this time, I won. I teased him about it and he challenged me for another game when we would meet next. I am looking forward to seeing him soon as it is always refreshing to walk the alleys of childhood with your childhood friend.

Today I will describe my meeting with one of my friends who came to visit my city on her vacation. As soon as she informed me, we made a plan to catch up at her favourite restaurant called Dominoes.

We met around 6 pm at my house and then left for the restaurant. My friend has always been a huge fan of eating pizzas. She loves cheese-burst pizza from Dominoes with lots of toppings.I ordered the same ones and she was surprised to know that I remembered. I ordered a taco for myself with some chicken wings.

What did you talk about during the meal?

The outlet we planned to catch up at was so crowded that we had to wait for half an hour just to find ourselves a seat.However, it was worth the wait since it was long that we met over slices of pizza. She told me all about the things going on in her life and how she was worried that she might not clear the IIT JEE exam this year. I tried to motivate her and suggested ways to keep herself calm and composed whenever she felt stressed. Since I have been practising meditation for over 6 months now and have seen positive results, I suggested she try it too. She always confides in me and told me about how her health is getting impacted due to the excessive stress she feels.

Since I have gone through that phase in life, I was able to offer her support and guide her in the right direction. Nevertheless, meeting her was a memorable experience as I had pizza after a year. Dominoes have not compromised on the taste they offer, probably that is why my friend is such a huge fan of their pizza. I returned home by 9 pm after dropping her off at the metro station. She had to leave the next day, else we would have tried to meet once more as we do not know when we would get another opportunity to spend quality time together.

She invited me to her house and I happily accepted it. I was so excited to visit her house as earlier she informed me that she had a pet dog called Buzo. I have always been a dog lover and meeting Buzo was another reason to add more to my exhilaration. I reached her home at 7 pm with a bottle of red wine and a Buzo collar which I bought from the airport. She welcomed me warmly with a hug and showed me around the house. Buzo accompanied too. He is a very friendly, smart and hyperactive dog. We played with him and he was happy to have me in his space as well.

What food items were ordered for dinner?

Around 9, I was offered food and to my surprise, my friend made a range of Mughlai cuisines which included my favourite Malai tikka, Hyderabadi Zafrani Murgh Pulao, Kadai Gosht and Galouti kebab. I was salivating just by looking at them. They tasted delicious and I must say my friend has magic in her hands. All the food items were home-cooked and hence they were less spicy too as she knew I can’t bear lots of spices yet I am fond of Mughlai cuisine. Towards the end of the dinner, she offered me Sheer Korma which is a traditional dessert eaten during Eid.

What was talked about during the meal?

We talked all about college times and shared everything we knew about our mutual friends. We talked about our life, our career goals and future plans.

I couldn’t have thanked her enough for her hospitality. It had been ages since I had such a scrumptious meal. We had a memorable evening together and are looking forward to more such times together. I have invited her to my city, Kerala so that I can make her taste our traditional food items too.
