Model Answer 1

What happened?

There are very few things that I fear in life. One of them is time. This incident happened about a year ago when I was traveling from Bangalore to Delhi. I had a flight at 11.00 PM. I absolutely hate traveling in the evening, especially when I am alone. I had an emergency at home, so in a rush, I booked a late-night flight as all the others were already booked. I booked a cab for 7.00 PM as I wanted to reach the airport early. Also, Bangalore’s traffic is at its peak in the evenings so I decided to leave 4 hours before my place.

Where you were then?

It was 7.00 PM and my cab driver was nowhere to be found. I called him several times, and after giving a dozen excuses he reached my location after half an hour. I was furious when he arrived. I asked him why he was late and he didn't say a word. He was behaving weirdly and I also sensed that he was a little intoxicated. As it was too late to book another cab, I had no other option but to travel with the same driver. Unfortunately, by that time the traffic also had reached its peak.

Who was with you?

I was now stuck with a bizarre driver and was afraid I’ll be able to reach the airport on time. He stopped a couple of times, during the trip I requested him politely to speed up as I didn’t want to miss my flight. He responded with a “yes man” and then drove again. It had already been 9.00 PM and I was still halfway to the airport. I was praying desperately that I would reach the airport on time. After a while, the driver again stopped and started checking the cab's tires. When I enquired he responded rudely to not worry about it. By this time I was agitated, furious, and honestly felt like reporting him. Anyhow, I couldn't do anything as I wanted to reach the airport on time and if I would have missed this flight I wouldn't have gotten any other flight for two days. He started driving again.

Explain why you were so afraid?

Afraid, furious, agitated I was furious I was overwhelmed with emotions. I somehow reached the airport at 10.00 PM, paid the driver in cash and rushed towards the entry gate. I hurriedly took my boarding pass and security check in. The boarding had already started. Luckily I was able to board just in time. Later, when I reached home I reported the driver to the cab services and also gave a bad rating. I also saw a couple of other bad ratings and reviews that the driver had gotten. It was the most afraid I had ever been in my life.

Model Answer 2

What happened?

I do not really believe in supernatural beings nor do fear them. The fear of the unknown or unseen never occurred to me except one time.  It was a story that I heard. It completely changed my perspective about ghosts or supernatural beings. There are so many blogs out there that write about haunted places in India. I had read a couple of stories about the Shimla Hills. It is a small town in Himachal Pradesh. Many people believe that the town has some of the spookiest ghost stories of all time. It was an incident that was narrated to me by my father. Once he came late from the office. Now, we didn't have a personal vehicle at the time.

Where you were then?

It was around 3.00 AM and on his way back home from IGMC road he saw a little boy walking around with his small pup. My father started talking to the boy and asked why he was roaming about at night. The boy then replied that he had just come out for a stroll. The boy then started chatting and walking with my father. After they crossed the IGMC hospital the boy disappeared.

Who was with you?

My father was shocked and started walking hurriedly. He later told me that there used to be a cemetery near the hospital. At the time I was working at the IGMC hospital and had evening shifts. I had to walk all the way from the hospital to my place via IGMC road. I was so scared after hearing my father’s story that I couldn’t walk alone on that road. For about a week I took the longest route to reach my place.

Explain why you were so afraid?

My father’s story was quite horrific. Even now, I cannot walk alone in the evenings or at night via the route. Before hearing his story I did not believe in supernatural things or ghosts, but once I heard it completely changed my perspective. Thus, I do believe now that there are things out there in the world that are beyond any rational explanation.

Model Answer 3

What happened?

The COVID-19 pandemic had caused some unprecedented changes in everyone's life. This incident happened when the nation was under lockdown. Being a hypochondriac I am scared of even the slightest diseases around me. To contain the spread of coronavirus the entire nation was under lockdown.

Where you were then?

It was during the starting months of 2020 I was stuck for about six months in Bangalore. I rented a flat in one of the standalone buildings in Whitefield, Bangalore. I was sharing the flat with one of my friends, but at the time she had already left home. This lockdown was one of the toughest times of my life, in fact, everyone was suffering. We couldn’t step outside and had to order the daily essentials online. Later I got to know that one of the families in my building was corona positive. Now, the building where I was staying was a standalone building.

Who was with you?

Everyone used the same lift and also the same maid was working for the entire building. I was living on the 5th floor, and the family that was corona positive was on the same floor. I dreaded when I heard this news. I immediately asked my maid to not clean the house for a few days. As the same maid was working for the entire building I was scared to let her come in and clean the house. I completely empathize with what the family was going through but the fear that had crawled inside me overpowered all my decisions.

Explain why you were so afraid?

Even though the respective family was asked to not step outside, I was still afraid. Being a hypochondriac I didn't step outside my flat for about a week. I cleaned the flat myself and when needed ordered the daily essentials. I asked the delivery boy to leave the essentials near the door so that I could sanitize them and then bring them in. I was traumatized by what was happening and its effects lingered even after a week. I couldn’t even stand on the balcony as the family next door and I shared the same balcony. It was the most terrifying and afraid I had ever been in my life.
