Describe A Time When You Were Surprised To Meet A Friend Cue Card

Who you met?
His name is Ayush and we used to study in the same school but got separated in high school. We remained connected by phone but the connection broke when he went to Maharashtra to complete his graduation. He came to Delhi to complete his post graduation. Thus, we met again. When I saw him, I could not recognize him at first, but I remembered that he was Ayush when I took a closer look. At that time, he was not looking at me as there was a considerable distance between our tables. I confronted him and sat at his table, without saying a word.
As soon as he saw me he went blank. The look on his face was unforgettable. He, too, was very much surprised to see me at the cafe.

When was it?
First of all, I took his new number and saved it on my phone and we were engaged in some verbal confabulations over a cup of coffee and a sandwich. I asked him how he was, from which university he graduated, what he did as a profession, etc. We were very happy to see each other.

Why were you surprised?
When both our excitement settled down, we decided to call our other friends without telling them that Ayush was there. They agreed to come to the coffee shop. After waiting for some time, they came and everyone was shocked when they saw Ayush with me. It was quite an emotional as well as an exciting moment to see all my friends together. We spent a little time at the coffee shop and then we came to my house, which was nearby. We spent the entire evening together. We ate, danced, and celebrated the moment to the fullest. At the end of the day, we promised to stay connected and meet regularly.

Who you met?
The incident happened recently. I was sitting at home, watching TV, when the phone rang. It was a missed call from an unknown number. I thought if the caller needed me, he/she would call again. However, the call was after an hour. I picked it up and said “Hello”. The caller said, “Come outside, alone. I am waiting for you”. I was shocked. I could not recognize his voice but I had to go outside. I saw him from my window but his face was not very clear.

When was it?
Anyhow, I went downstairs to meet him. I saw him and it was none other than Sumit who pranked me. Both of us were very happy to see each other. Actually, we both studied in the same college and after graduating, he went abroad to pursue further studies. He came back a week ago and got my contact information from Facebook. He then planned to meet me in a surprising way.

Why were you surprised?
We went inside the house and shared our experiences over some snacks. We recall the memories of our college days - the fun we had, the excitement of meeting with friends, playing several games, college activities, etc. He further told me that he had come to India on holiday and he would go back to foreign after a month. He even suggested that I should come to New York so that we would work and live together. He encouraged me to appear in the IELTS exams. He stayed at my house and left the other day. We took several snaps to lock this meeting in the memory lane. It was wonderful meeting him again after so much time. We are now connected through social media platforms and we also shared each other’s phone numbers.

Who you met?
It was my childhood friend Saurav. He was my neighbour in Delhi and we played a lot together. We went to different schools but met every day to play and share experiences. However, after getting enrolled in different colleges we did not have much time to meet. Things got even worse when my family shifted to the other part of the state.

When was it?
So we were happy in our lives and we were not in touch. One day, my family planned to visit Vaishno Devi temple and we went the next week. We reached there and the environment was very calm and joyful. It was then when I saw a boy of my age going inside the same hotel in which we had a booking. We checked in, stayed inside the hotel for the evening, and started our expedition in the night. While climbing the mountain I met Saurav. Both of us were surprised by how the other knew I was here. As crazy as it may sound, it was a mere case of coincidence that both of our families had visited the same place at the same time.

Why were you surprised?
We were very happy to see our old neighbours, especially me and Saurav who shared a brotherly bond. We resumed our expedition and went to the top of the mountain. We talked a lot while going up which kept us motivated and encouraged. We even enjoyed waiting outside the temple and utilised that time for expressing thoughts and talking. While both ascending and descending we ate together and clicked several pics and snaps as a memento. After reaching the top of the mountain, it was time for selfies. After reaching the hotel, both the families took a rest for one day, and then we went out for sight viewing. We visited all the tourist spots together and enjoyed each other’s company. In the end, we came back home and promised to stay connected.
