Describe a Time when you were Stuck in a Traffic Jam Cue Card

How long you had to wait?

As a result, I had to hurry to the location in order to prevent looking foolish. Around 8 am, while I was driving, I noticed a large number of city dwellers dashing in their cars, perhaps on their way to a holiday or some other form of entertainment. It being a holiday that day, and most offices were closed, so I was surprised. Additionally, as I continued to drive, I saw that the opposite side of the road had been dug up. Because of this, there was horrible congestion because every vehicle was going in only one lane. As a result, I once waited there for more than 45 minutes. There was nothing I could do but listen to music.

Explain how you felt about this?

I was growing more and more enraged by the minute, and I was also terrified and worried about making it to the venue. After a while, I noticed a large goods-transporting truck that had caused a traffic backup by being stuck on the road's turn. The incident was ultimately resolved by the traffic police by diverting it and clearing the chaos. I turned my car toward the location out of frustration. I was unable to focus on anything until the traffic returned to normal. In the end, I was at peace when I got close to the venue. At 8:50 a.m., I made it to the location and began prepping.

This region is frequently kept busy with people and automobiles. This is due to the fact that visitors from all over the nation stop by that location, making the region always congested. Additionally, a big population can be found here. The road is crowded with people of all ages in addition to the automobiles that are travelling along it. Driving here is therefore painful. I believe that drivers need to exercise more caution, and the traffic police need to limit the use of large vehicles during peak hours.

I asked the driver to my right what had brought the traffic to a standstill. He told me that there was a concussion and we couldn’t cross the area until the sufferers were taken out of the damaged vehicles.

How long you had to wait?

I sat in the car and did nothing for 45 minutes. I was waiting for any motion of cars ahead of mine. Still, the traffic continued to stay motionless with no hints that the road, and particularly the site of concussion, would be cleaned up shortly. I searched for an alternative road on Google Maps. I found that there was a mud road followed by an under-construction road through the nearby lakes. I chose to take that route in order to not lose my interview. Driving for 5 minutes, as I reached that road, I got stuck in the deep mud. I tried repeatedly to take my car out of it, but all my efforts were futile.

Explain how you felt about this?

I got out of the car, banged my door shut but got my shoes dirty with mud. In anger, I cursed myself in my mind. While driving away, I got extremely annoyed at what had happened and what I did and regretted taking that route, although I knew I had no other option except for taking that route. I wasn’t typically like that, but my anger after several months of unemployment made me frantic. After that, I tried to listen to the radio news, but that seemed less engaging to me.

I reached the office precisely in time for my interview. But, here comes a surprise. As I entered the room for the interview, I found that the interviewer was the same person who had informed me about the accident on the road while I was in the jam. I was somewhat relieved as I knew he was aware of how I had reached the office. The interview went extremely well. After a week, I received a call back from that company.

I bought a magazine from a roadside vendor and waited for the next 40 minutes impatiently. I wanted the situation to get back to normal soon. However, it did not; to make the situation worse, many commuters blocked the road to protest against the rally that had led to the traffic jam. The situation was quite ironic! A few minutes later, police and those commuters had a heated debate. This gathered a lot more crowd, making the road more packed. Seeing that the situation would not be settled soon, many public transport passengers left the bus and auto-rickshaws to reach their destinations on foot or some alternative route. However, being in my personal vehicle, I couldn't leave it anywhere. Feeling helpless, I was extremely angry at that time. Moreover, I had nothing to do to pass my time or to divert my mind from the chaos. I bought more magazines and started solving crossword puzzles.

Explain how you felt about this?

The experience was not good. But I saw many police officers and traffic police trying to resolve the matter. After 30 minutes, they were successful. Finally, I entered home entirely exhausted and angry over a chaotic and unproductive day. Moreover, it's funny that my cousins reached their home way before I reached mine!
