Model Answer 1

When and Where?

The very heart of rural India is a farm. A large portion of the population has made it one of their most significant jobs. As a result, both the public and private sectors have supported farming and keeping animals on a global scale. Here is a fragment of my joyful memory of a long-ago visit to an ancestral property. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to visit my ancestral house because I had spent the majority of my life in an urban centre. This property is situated in the middle of Munnar city, amidst a lush meadow. Owing to its prime location, the farm can be visited all around the year and never fails to awe its visitors with the beautiful biodiversity it beholds.

What all was observed?

This expanse of green, which is located far from a busy city, is home to some rare plant species, seasonal vegetables, unusual birds, and a sizable apiary. I had the opportunity to experience "fresh" fruits and veggies for the first time thanks to this. The entire plant population has been developed and reproduced naturally to create a lush green belt that encircles the entire farm area. A sizeable area has been set aside for the operation of an apiary, which runs with the assistance of skilled employees and provides a supply of dark golden-colored, tasty honey.

What was the overall experience like?

The constant visual for most of us in the city are high-rise buildings, shopping malls, and other elements of a concrete jungle. But having witnessed nature at its real best, I am now looking forward to life amidst nature. There are so many lessons one cannot learn in classrooms or academic institutions that can be learned here on the farms. One such important lesson I learned here is that nothing gets wasted. What is a waste for one living organism becomes food for another.

What are your thoughts on farming?

Farming has always been considered a backward occupation. But, my trip was an eye-opener. What I realized was that farming is the backbone of our society and a country’s progress. For a country like India, farming has been the major source of income for a large number of households. However, the need to go back to sustainable farming as a profession is still underrated. The future appears bleak if we do not collectively work towards this.

Model Answer 2

When and Where?

Growing up in a farming family, farms have always been an integral part of my life. During my childhood, I used to run among tall, lush trees, listen to singing birds, eat fruits and vegetables that were grown naturally, and play with cows, horses, chickens, bunnies, and other animals. People might view this arrangement as a liability, but for us, the farm is simply an addition to our large family. The farm is situated in Kerala's Wayanad district, near the base of Banasura Hill. This topography makes it possible to cultivate and raise a large variety of farm animals because of the comfortable environment throughout the year. Our farm is now a popular tourist destination, and it becomes very busy during the summer and during festivals.

What all was observed?

The location of our property is ideal for someone who has never visited a farm. The farm, which is located in an area of relatively high altitude, is the place where a wide range of perennial plantation crops and rare Kerala spices are grown. Several prominent crops grown on the farm include coffee, tea, cardamom, pepper, and rubber. The unique pet farm, the main draw for both domestic and international travellers, is the principal focus. It's a necessity to observe several parrot species and owls.

What was the overall experience like?

I have always encouraged people I meet to come and witness this marvel in my hometown. The reviews and experiences shared are always overwhelming. Apart from tourists or casual visitors, we have had people approach us for business purposes and personalized décor as well. This kind of response has motivated us to venture into newer fields like making miniature toys, affordable furniture, jute bags, etc.

What are your thoughts on farming?

We started this farm as a source of living for our family. As time passed this converted into a hobby for most of us. Today, younger generations from within the family and even smaller organizations working towards the environment, have come forward to work in collaboration. Tiny efforts made one day at a time have made us reach this space. So I firmly believe and wish more of such spaces get created and flourish so that we collectively do not face adversities of nature.

Model Answer 3

When and Where?

We made the decision to go on a family vacation last year during the summer break. We chose a farm stay because we had already visited the mountains and the beaches during our mini-vacations. Each of us held the entire trip dear as a memorable experience. We've made the decision to return to this magnificent farmhouse in Karnataka anytime we need a break from the daily grind!

A 150-acre property called The GrapeVine Yard is situated 170 kilometres from Bangalore, Karnataka. The farm offers visitors amenities including cottage stays, plantation excursions, farm tours, water activities, and other enjoyable adventures because of its huge spread.

What all was observed?

Army veterans who had retired had the idea for the farm when they resolved to live out the remainder of their lives in harmony with nature. He started growing grapes, guavas, mangoes, cherries, and strawberries with the assistance of several like-minded people. Being able to pick these different fruit species with my own two hands was such a treat. A cattle farm, a horse stable, many small to medium-sized fish-farming ponds, and a miniature aviary were among the later-day sights we were able to observe. For us, adventure sports like cliff jumping, cricket, tug of war, and kabaddi, as well as team sports like kabaddi and kabaddi, were once-in-a-lifetime events.

What was the overall experience like?

We have traveled as a family to so many places and seen some amazing architectural marvels. However, a farm is the closest to heaven we have ever witnessed, Nature was simply at its best and there were so many things we saw and experienced for the first time. This place made us feel at home and shake hands with nature and the very roots of our existence.

What are your thoughts on farming?

The majority of us are busy making our lives secure with high-paying jobs in some major cities of the world. Little do we realize that we are so consumed and dependent on these modern amenities, that we have gradually broken all ties with nature. It is time we realize this fact and ensure we go back to our roots. Even if we cannot contribute, let us not be factors that destroy harmony.
