Model Answer 1

When it was?

The event occurred on 29th November, the day on which my brother was returning from the hostel. The last time I met him was six months ago when he came during the mid-semester break. He wanted to witness my cooking skills as he had been telling him for months that I would make something nice for him when he comes home. Since then I have been watching Youtube videos and observing mom learn cooking and prove everyone. I thought of surprising everyone by presenting the cake at the dinner table.

What you tried?

While I was thinking of preparing a dish, lots of dishes appeared in my mind. But as said, my previous attempt was a failure so I took every step carefully. I still remembered how everyone made fun of me. Therefore, I decided not to make something extraordinary but make a simple dish. Hence, a simple fruit cake was my first choice and I went with it.

Why it was not very successful?

This time when I decided to make the fruit, I thought of making no mistake. And for that, I followed every precaution to make my cooking a success. But unfortunately, the success was not fully achieved. Yes, the texture was good as I expected but the taste was not what I expected. I think I wrongly noted the amount of the sweetener mentioned in the YouTube video. Hence, the cake turned out to be less sweet and this was evident from the face of family members while eating.

And how you felt about it?

After having a slice of cake, the excitement of everyone dimmed a little but not so much. But you know moms are more loving hence, they do not want to talk about their child. But other members i.e Dad and brother didn’t wait for a moment. Dad said that everything is fine but a little more sweetness would have been better. The same happened to my brother but he patted my shoulder and told me that it was a great effort.

But deep down behind this assurance, I knew that I didn’t make a perfect cake but still to take something positive from the event was that it wasn’t totally bad.

Model Answer 2

When it was?

It happened when I was in class 8 when I participated in the science competition. The event was unorganized because initially, I was reluctant to participate in the competition. But as I was a good student in the eyes of teachers, they motivated me to participate. There was almost a week left before the competition and I still had not made up my mind. It was an inter-school science competition hence, any mistake would lead to embarrassment in front of the whole school.

What you tried?

Before giving my name for the science competition I was busy surfing the internet for some cool models. One of the first ideas was to build a miniature hydroelectric dam. I thought the idea was good but cost way more than we would receive the allotted amount. The next idea that popped up in my mind while surfing which also became my final idea was wireless remote control cars. This is because some of the main motors required that could raise the cost were already with me as I had an old remote control car. Hence, in total, the cost was very low.

Why it was not very successful?

Everything went smoothly as per the plan. We did a demo of the car where we raced it on an uneven track. The demo was completed a day before the scheduled date. On the testing day, our mentor and even the principal were confident about us winning or even leaving a mark in the competition. One day before the competition I was supposed to get new batteries as we did several demos for days hence, the batteries were mostly expired. But somehow, I don't even know how I forgot about batteries.

And how you felt about it?

11 am was the time when guests and judges would start coming to view the models. Hence, we reached 9 am and started preparing our tables, placing the banners, posters, and the model in front. It was almost 2 minutes to 11 when one of my teammates asked whether I had inserted the new batteries. His words struck my ears and suddenly I realized that I hadn’t.

And within moments the judges arrived at our table and due to my fault, we couldn’t show the car moving. After the judges went I was in deep embarrassment as I let down everyone’s effort.

Model Answer 3

When it was?

The event of failure occurred two months after my class 12 board exams. Most of my friends had engineers and doctors in their homes that could guide them on what to do next in their careers. But I had none but that was not much of a problem because I was capable of taking decisions on my own. But as days passed my knowledge about various exams and their preparations developed. As class 12 itself is a big challenge, hence I decided to first give my best in class 12 and then only put my time into any other exams.

What you tried?

After evaluating most of the choices and listening to advice from mentors, teachers, parents, and also my friends, the choice which I made was to do engineering. Hence, my aim after 12 was to sit for JEE exams. But I took a one-year break to prepare for JEE.

That one year I put 100% of my effort and joined the coaching class for JEE. I stopped watching TV, playing games on the computer, using my mobile, and all such habits.

Why it was not very successful?

When the days of exams were coming closer the nervousness picked up. All the preparation, hard work, and sacrifice which I did was for that one day. I had completed my syllabus way ahead of time and revised it 4 to 5 times. Solved every little problem and understood the depth of any concept.

And how you felt about it?

I gave the exams and was very much confident that I would not only pass but get a national rank. 1 month after the exams the result was announced at 2 pm. I surely passed my exams but didn’t get the expected rank that I wanted. Due to this I didn’t get computer science but had to compromise with electrical. This saddened me very much to the extent that I locked myself in my bedroom for 3 days and became depressed.
