Model Answer 1

What is it?

Possession of certain objects, such as an automobile, has been associated to achieving a greater status throughout history. The possession of premium car brands denotes financial superiority and creates an image in the minds of people in society. As a result, in this materialistic world, people from many ethnic and financial backgrounds desire to own a four-wheeler.

Why people use it?

In certain nations, the majority of people cannot afford a car, but with the advent of choices such as car loans and the availability of used cars, everyone now has this luxury. Millennials today believe in making a 'good impression' on others, thus they encourage their elders to invest in flashy and up-to-date models. Having a car provides convenience and comfort, but it also has certain drawbacks, such as maintenance and environmental concerns.

Do you have it?

Although my parents possess a car, I prefer to take public transport to avoid traffic on my country's crowded roadways. Not everyone shares the same viewpoint.

Explain what influences it has on people nowadays.

Overall, the image and status symbol that an automobile provides has surpassed its utility. With the expanding economy and stable car prices, an increasing number of people are being encouraged to buy a car in the future. People, on the other hand, consider owning an expensive four-vehicle to be a luxury. Furthermore, in an era of conscientious ecology and skyrocketing gasoline prices, people must be more concerned with pollution than with their personal image and prestige.

Model Answer 2

What is it?

"A man's Self is the sum total of all that he can call his, not only his body and psychic powers, but his clothes and his house," wrote an American philosopher and psychologist named William James in his book "The Principles of Psychology," and I couldn't agree more. And, most likely, this is why we see individuals nowadays urgently seeking to acquire goods, whether they need them or not, solely for the sake of enhancing their "status." Today, I'd like to discuss one such item that individuals enjoy having in their houses.

Why people use it?

A "big screen TV" is the name given to this device. Some refer to it as a "super big TV." But don't think I don't have a big-screen TV of my own. In reality, I am strongly opposed to such materialistic drivel. Of course, many other people dislike thinking like me, possibly because they are more concerned with their position than I am. It could possibly be because they make more money than I do!

Do you have it?

Regardless of whether they earn more money or not, many people, at least in my society, enjoy having a super big TV because it allows them to enjoy many entertaining shows, such as movies, sports, TV reality shows, travel shows, and many other programmes, in a more relaxing and better manner because these super big TVs have better picture quality and sound system. After all, if you have a huge screen TV, all of your family members will be able to watch it from every corner of the room. Furthermore, some people like to acquire large-screen televisions just to beautify their living rooms or sitting spaces.

Explain what influences it has on people nowadays.

Whatever the motives are for wanting these large TVs, they influence people to construct some type of false class difference among themselves, which causes unjustifiable jealously or animosity in society. Furthermore, this expensive trend of spending a fortune on a huge screen TV places an unneeded burden on family budgets and resources, which could be used for other vital things.

Model Answer 3

What is it?

Nowadays, cell phones have become a status symbol and a fashion accessory for the majority of individuals in my nation. Furthermore, this technology is quite important in how we communicate with others.

Why people use it?

People utilise it for the ease it provides, but they also regard it as a source of pride and prestige. The device's utility has grown as technology has advanced. A cell phone is no longer just a device for communicating with others and sending and receiving SMS; it now has high-resolution cameras, music and video playback capabilities, an FM radio, an internet modem, Wi-Fi, games, social networking applications, video calling features, and so on. This device has grown in popularity, and teenagers regard it as a must-have item.

Do you have it?

Cell phones are commonly utilised for official and corporate communications, and they are rapidly replacing landlines. Cell phone prices, call time rates, and internet browsing rates are all lowering, and as a result, those with lesser incomes are increasingly adopting cell phones.

Explain what influences it has on people nowadays.

Considering that I could have easily bought a low-cost phone instead of the pricey smartphone I currently own, I have grown somewhat dependent on my cell phone and even consider it a fashion accessory. I keep it with me practically 24 hours a day for communication, entertainment, and educational purposes, and thus this cell phone has become a necessary instrument that I enjoy using, as well as a status symbol.
