Model Answer 1

What skill it was?

In our early childhood, we learn so much and so fast. To stand out from the rest, we try different things, and gradually our interest is built into it too. Today I am going to talk about one such skill that I learned as a child. That skill is Photography.

Where did you learn it from?

When I was 7, my father had a Canon camera which was heavy for a thin and lean child like me. I would always find opportunities to get my hands on that camera. In those days, pictures were printed on paper. There was no concept of clicking photos through smartphones. Phones were just basic calling devices.

One had to insert a reel in the camera that could click 30-50 images which would later develop into colorful photos. I always tried clicking through that camera but due to its weight and my lack of knowledge, the photos would not turn out well.

How did you learn it?

My father saw my interest and he taught me the skill to click good pictures. I didn’t know that lighting, camera angle, and focus played a vital role in capturing any object. Eventually, I could keep my hands still and be even able to carry the weight around easily. My mother used to worry about me breaking the camera as I have always been a careless child but that camera was one thing that I would handle with extreme care.

As a year passed, everyone in the family recognized how good I had become at clicking pictures. I was always asked to click pictures of every happy moment we celebrated in our house.

Explain why did you learn this skill?

I believe my interest in cameras arose as I used to love going through photo albums. Looking at people in those pictures made me feel as if I was taken back in time. I wanted to learn the art of capturing moments and reliving them. Photography eventually became my passion and all credit to my childhood curiosity and ability to learn that today I am a successful photographer.

Model Answer 2

What skill it was?

My mother has been a great influence on me. I would always linger around her and observe her doing household chores. That was when I learned the skill of cooking. Although it wasn’t perfect then it was good considering how young I was. Today, I am going to share my experience of learning that skill.

Where did you learn it from?

I have always been close to my mother. Except for the hours that I spent at school, I was always found around my mother. She is such a wonderful woman. Whenever I think of her, I am amazed at her immense knowledge and skills. One of her talents that I also learned was the art of cooking. Whenever she would cook something in the kitchen, I would also help her.

How did you learn it?

One day I requested my mother allow me to cook from the beginning to the end. She helped me with chopping and turning on the flame as she didn’t want me to hurt myself. I followed her instructions and cooked Paneer Butter Masala. My father tasted it and told me that it was extremely delicious. However, when I tasted it, I felt that it was too salty. My mother fixed that by diluting the gravy. That was the first time I cooked any meal with some help. Later, as time passed and I grew, I started cooking often.

Explain why did you learn this skill?

After two years, I became a pro chef who knew how to cook all kinds of dishes. My happiness knew no bounds when guests would come and I would surprise them with my culinary skills. To preserve the aroma of all the spices, I ensured to roast them a little before adding them to my dishes.

The skill of cooking is an art. One needs to know the ingredients thoroughly and add just the right amount, neither less nor more and that knowledge is possessed only by a true artist. Even today, I use my childhood learned skills and treat myself on weekends. My friends love eating the food I prepare.

Model Answer 3

What skill it was?

I have always been an inquisitive child. Whenever I would see anything new in my vicinity, I would want to learn more about it. When I was 10, my elder brother bought a guitar and I learned the skill to play it. Today I am going to share my experience of the struggle I had with the guitar but ultimately I managed to learn the skill.

Where did you learn it from?

My brother is five years older than me. In his teenage days, all his friends were learning to play the guitar. My brother also wanted to be the cool guy with a guitar. He managed to persuade our father into buying him one but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t learn the chords. Whenever he would try, I would sit next to him and it made me curious to learn it too.

How did you learn it?

We watched video tutorials on Youtube and tried to immediate the finger movements. I am a quick learner, so it was easy for me to learn the chords. Although strumming took some time, I managed to learn some songs. I also learned a little bit of finger styling. My brother gave up on it as it frustrated him to practice the same chords every day. However, he was good at singing and I eventually became an expert in playing the guitar. We would collaborate and jam in our family gatherings. Together we made a youtube channel and even now we publish our covers where I play the guitar and he takes care of the vocals.

Explain why did you learn this skill?

It is always a fun experience to try out new things. The guitar happened to me by accident. I was not much inclined toward learning it but I ended up learning that skill. I might be the cool guy with a guitar but since I cannot sing, I have to rely on my brother to leave a strong impression on the minds of my audience. Also, it helped me to get relaxed whenever I feel stressed out from life and work.
