Where was it?

Our lives now wouldn't be the same without our mobile devices. These days, it is impossible to imagine living without a cell phone. There are several places where using a cell phone is quite upsetting. For instance, in places of worship like temples, eateries, and hospitals. I want to discuss a circumstance when I was prohibited from using a cell phone in this section. My aunt visited us last month and went shopping for her daughter's wedding during her visit. She had travelled from the UK.

When was it?

On the weekend, we made the decision to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The line to enter the main building was really long, I still clearly recall. After waiting for an hour, it was finally our turn. My phone began buzzing as soon as we stepped inside the main prayer hall. All eyes were on me as if I had done something wrong. I had neglected to turn off my mobile device.

Why were you not allowed?

There were signs everywhere reminding people to put their cell phones on mute before entering the hallway. My phone rang, so I ended the call and turned it off right away.

What did you want to do with your cell phone?

I was humiliated beyond belief. There were a lot of people there, yet no one's phone was ringing. After performing the holy book's circumambulation, we left. After that, we visited the communal kitchen, where meals are available constantly. We left the temple's main structure after another hour, and I turned my cell phone back on as soon as we did. My cousin's calls were unreturned four times. When she contacted me, I apologised and explained the situation. She was aware.

Where was it?

A different flex was using a phone while in class. There might be a student in each part who brings their phone to class. Undoubtedly, possessing a smartphone enhances your reputation with friends. That is what we believed at the time. As soon as we reach adulthood, smartphones stop being something we flex and start being essential to our daily lives.
Of course, mobile phones were never allowed in a school other than on a trip or tour. One such incident I recall was when mobile phones were not allowed during that trip.

When was it?

Due to an exhibition that our school was hosting there, we went to the museum. I was a 10th grader. Everyone was ecstatic since what could be more enjoyable than going on a school trip with all of your friends?
So, packing our luggage with scrumptious food and drinks, we were all prepared to travel. Mobile phones are not permitted within the museum, according to a warning we saw. Well, everyone breaks the rules, and that's what my pals and I did as well!
We entered the museum, and no one was clicking the pictures as mobile phones were not allowed.

Why you were not allowed?

We all brought our phones as we wanted to click pictures with friends and teachers but couldn't do so. The security was tight, and we deposited our mobile phones and bags at the entrances. The whole mood got spoiled.

What did you want to do with your cell phone?

We entered the museum and were pretty sad to not have these moments captured somewhere. Later everyone had quality time with friends and teachers. We interacted with our teachers and got to them, and it was the best trip we ever had. We shared real moments and also played football in the garden area. We also acknowledged many facts that might not be possible if we had our smartphones.
Definitely, I wanted to click pictures of all the moments and share them on my social media and with my family. But I realized that sometimes smartphones kill our moments and happiness. Everything is not possible through technology and electronic devices. We have to learn to live in the moments rather than trying to capture them.

Where was it?

It surprises people these days if they don't have a smartphone. It's for this reason that we can't live without our cell phones. Even phone numbers are not something we can recall. We are so dependent on our mobile devices. Living without a mobile phone is quite difficult. I use my phone for every aspect of work, including taking notes and emailing. I'll discuss one of these instances where cell phones were prohibited today. I was using my mobile phone during one of my classes in college. I was not using it for any entertainment purposes. I was checking something related to the subject, and suddenly a message popped up. Like everyone else, I checked the text, and my teacher saw me.

When was it?

The incident took place two months ago when. She scolded me for using the phone in class as it was an insult to her. I didn't say a word and was looking down with all due respect. It was embarrassing to get scolded in the middle of class for using a smartphone. Everyone was watching, and it was a tough row to how to take the complete lecture with all that embarrassment.

Why you were not allowed?

My teacher came and took my phone and didn't return it for the whole day. I understood that students use mobile phones for the wrong purposes. I realized it was wrong to use the phone during class when teachers are putting in their effort. Hence, the teachers act this way. That whole day I got bored.

What did you want to do with your cell phone?

It has become our habit to check our mobile phones, emails, and social media. All my friends were busy playing video games and calling their families and friends while I was sitting and getting bored. I took a tour around the college and interacted with my juniors, seniors, and teachers. I also went to the garden and discovered many other places in the college. In the meantime, I realized that smartphones have taken our lives and got us engaged.
The next day I collected my mobile phone from reception and wrote an apology letter to the teacher. Also, I realized that it's okay to keep your phone aside and live real life rather than reel life.
