Describe a Process Diagram IELTS Writing Task 1 consists of three sample answers provided below. The task requires the candidates to provide a tentative and argumentative answer for the question. The sample answers comprises two parts: Introduction and body. The introduction is a brief description about the topic. The body contains argumentative statements and tentative answers to support the test-taker's perspective. IELTS writing task 1 provides candidates an opportunity to express their knowledge and views based on the topic. IELTS writing score is marked based on band scores. The band scores range from 0 to 9. What are the Types of Process Diagrams?

There are 2 types of process Diagram: Natural and Man-made.

Natural processes may include things like the life cycle of a butterfly, Soil formation, the water cycle, Photosynthesis or Food chains.

You might also be asked to describe a man-made process like how coffee, tea, cheese, beer or wine are processed, how cement or bricks are produced or how the internet works.

You may also get a combination of these and be asked to compare them.

How to Describe a Process Diagram?

Steps to Answer the Process Diagram?

You may write a great description for an IELTS diagram by following these 8 steps. -

How to Understand the Process Diagrams?

The examiner does not expect a perfect answer for the process diagram from you, just remember the main features of the process and report them accurately.

Examine where the process starts and where it ends.
See, how many stages are there in diagrams.
Describe which type of process it is (Natural or man-made).

How to Paraphrase the Question?

The order of the words can be changed, change the forms of the words, change from active to passive.

How to Write an Overview of the Process?

The overview is a brief summary of the most important points of the process diagram. It should be 3-4 sentences long and you should write it in the second paragraph.

To write an overview just answers these few questions.

Weather, the process man-made or natural?
What are the number of stages there?
What is produced in production?
Are any materials added?
What does the process do from the start to finish?

How to Describe Each Stage of the Process in Detail?

After providing the overview and paraphrasing the question, Now, we need to describe each stage of the process in detail. You should describe it in the 3rd and 4th paragraph.

Depending on the process diagrams, there are various action words you could utilize and they are a lot more straightforward than you imagine.

Formed: The brick are formed by molding machine
Sent to/for: The final product is sent to the finishing stage.

Stored in the: After finishing, the product is stored in a dry chamber.

Uses of cohesion and coherence are important, Object pronouns are especially helpful because they help you to avoid repetition.

How to Check your Answer?
