Topic: Describe a pleasant surprise you had have.

When it was?

My father gave me a brand-new desktop PC on the previous Christmas Eve because I did well in my university exams. It was a lovely surprise that I treasured a lot. Prior to that, I always have to opt for a cyber cafe if I had to do print out any important documents or something like that. But my father still managed to surprise me, which is what makes him a cool father.

Why you were surprised?

I had a notion that I might receive a gift or some cash. We think that every Christmas, Santa Claus brings you a gift. My father played the role of Santa Claus this year. But this time, I wasn't prepared for such a lovely gift. He also knew that I got exhausted by always going for a cyber cafe to print out my important documents, so I assumed he was just trying to demonstrate his love to me.

Who was/were there with you?

The desktop PC looked so much attractive, aesthetic with alot of RGB lightnings popping out of the cabinet making it mesmerizing by looks. When I first saw it, I was ecstatic and believed that by owning the PC, I would make my friends envious as it was so cool and trendy.

Explain how you felt about it?

I gave my father a warm hug after once more thanking him. He highlighted that I shouldn't spend all of my time in front of the computer and that I should only play games within certain parameters. Such a drag he was. However, I understood the message and am conscious of the fact that I am accountable.

It continues to be the best surprise I have ever received, reminding me to value my father's affection and his efforts to make me happy.

When it was?

I was alone at home at eight o'clock on the evening of my very special birthday, complaining, frowning, and pitying myself for my misfortune. I expected a great day packed with gifts and entertainment, but all I got was a "Happy Birthday."

Why you were surprised?

The electricity went out all of a sudden, and the house was completely dark. I couldn't think of anything else to do, so I decided to sleep and put an end to my bad day.

Out of the blue, I heard a loud noise coming from downstairs. I was completely terrified. Someone had broken into the house, I suspected. I immediately attempted to contact my parents but received no response.

Who was/were there with you?

After a couple of minutes of terror, I began to relax. Even though I could hear more people talking in the meanwhile, I gathered all the courage to proceed to the basement. I thought there was more than one person as I cautiously made my way down to the basement, but I couldn't believe it. There couldn't possibly be a large number of people in our basement!

I bravely entered the basement and opened the door. There was no light and sound at all. However, when I got closer, I heard laughter, which verified that there were people present. Suddenly, the lights were turned on, and my parents and friends were cheering me on. It was a surprise party. There were wonderful presents on a table with cake and food that I had dreamed of for a long time.

Explain how you felt about it?

I had a group of five friends including me, all of them made that night to remember for me. Everyone was crowded around the table waiting for me to cut the cake. There were a lot of cheers and the room was filled with balloons and our memories together so far on every wall. There was a strong smell of fresh flowers as they bought me a large bouquet. We took pictures right after dinner. There were a lot of pictures taken that night that emphasized happy memories for me to cherish until my next birthday.

When it was?

There are many instances of pleasant surprises that I got. Once such a pleasant surprise that my classmates and friends celebrated my birthday last month. I was really surprised. None of them showed the slightest hint. Now I will describe the entire event here.

Why you were surprised?

My birthday comes in the middle of June. I was at home that day. As I am an international student in Greece and I had to pass the day without my family. But this year, I was greatly surprised by the event that was arranged by my friends and classmates here.

I didn’t disclose my birthday date but still, my friends managed to find it. So, I was surprised when they brought a birthday cake in the class.

Who was/were there with you?

It was a kind of small party at the class marking my birthday. I cut the cake after the classes were done. One of our teachers was present at the event. It was a surprise for me that every one of the class had contributed to get the cake and arrange for the other snacks.

Explain how you felt about it?

I was very glad about the event. When I am at home, my mom prepares a cake for me and sometimes she also invites our relatives. But this time it was completely different and unusual for me. I did not have the idea that the cake would be a large one. I thanked them all for the beautiful arrangement. But none of them explained how they knew about my birthday. It is still a mystery to me.
