Describe a Plan that Did Not Work Cue Card

Visiting new places and meeting people is what gives me a kick and I wish to do it. Living in the northeastern state of my country, there are so many things I can explore and put on my list. A few years ago, I hitchhiked to a place near Bhubaneswar, Puri.

Although the trip was wonderful, I felt it could have been better with the company of my loved ones.

How long have you been making it?

Since then, I have been trying to convince my friends to travel with me to places like Kolkata, Visakhapatnam. But not all of us can pursue the interesting projects we come up with.

Why did it not work?

Sometimes because of work pressure, sometimes because of differences in priorities.

I remember extending my plan to go to Calcutta for about 6 months. However, as the New Year approaches, the resolution is to ensure that I travel more with my friends and sometimes make new friends along the way.

Explain when you think you can get it done?

I recently visited a travel website, Take My Trip, which allows people from different places to come together and enjoy new places. By sharing this project with my friends, some of them adopted it. And we hope to travel to East India in the next 6 months this year.

How long have you been making it?

It is a difficult task to choose from such a wide range of options. My parents and I are all thinking of them. The final decision was to go to Canada to get a Bachelor of Computer Applications, commonly known as a BCA. I received my acceptance letter for a 4-year computer science course from the University of British Columbia. That was an achievement for me. At that time, I did not know that this happiness was short-lived and that my dream was about to shatter like a vase. Surprisingly, it's an expensive course. We had to fund about two million rupees for my tuition, accommodation and other expenses.

Why did it not work?

My father applied for an education loan from a local bank in my hometown.

Initially, the bank manager seemed quite willing to approve the loan, but then continued to delay the process. Unfortunately, my parents couldn't find enough money to pay my tuition and we missed the fee payment deadline. You can imagine how I felt when I lost this opportunity. I am heartbroken and helpless. If our loan had been approved on time, I would have graduated from one of the most famous universities in the world. My parents were very supportive and helped me get through this painful ordeal. Now I am pursuing a BCA in India.

Explain when you think you can get it done?

Maybe I can go abroad to get a master's degree in computer science.

This time I will make sure I have enough money before applying to a college or university.

How long have you been making it?

This ambitious scheme has been under construction for approximately five years now.

I conceived my online business with the intent to establish a specialized e-commerce store for custom-designed, handmade jewelry. Dedicated hours were invested in market research, refining my skills as a jeweler and constructing an identifiable brand identity. I set up a website – thereby initiating steps towards assembling an inventory of personalized jewelry pieces. Incredibly enthusiastic and motivated, I: indeed--my fervor knew no bounds.

Why did it not work?

Underestimating the initial capital required to launch the business, I faced unexpected expenses - marketing costs, website maintenance and inventory management. Despite investing a significant amount of my own money garnered from savings; such strain on finances was unavoidable. The jewelry market brims with competition: numerous well-established brands and artisans command it. In such a saturated market--a crucible teeming with potential customers--gaining visibility proved insurmountably challenging; attracting clients seemed an elusive feat indeed.

Despite the plan not unfolding as I initially envisioned, I persist in my unfaltering belief of the jewelry business's potentiality. The experience has imparted invaluable lessons onto me; hence, I remain undeterred from this pursuit. Presently, with a critical eye cast upon my approach--I am considering alternative funding sources and delving into new strategies to distinguish myself within an inherently competitive market.

With a determined resolve, I set my sights on revitalizing and relaunching my online jewelry business within the upcoming two years. This endeavor will witness superior preparation - both financially and strategically; moreover, it shall ensure that the alignment of my business mirrors more accurately with current life circumstances and priorities. Having learned invaluable lessons from previous missteps, I am resolute in transforming this plan into reality soon.
