When you visited this place?

Recently, I visited the capital of India, New Delhi. My family and friends had planned to visit New Delhi during the summer break for a duration of one week. We wanted to see various historical monuments like Red Fort, Qutub Minar and Humayun’s Tomb.along with this, we also wanted to try the famous street snacks of the national capital.

What kind of pollution you saw there?

Apart from its scenic historical monuments, scrumptious food and amazing lifestyle, the city is also affected by a severe level of air pollution. Delhi is the hub of various industrial activities and has a huge base of automobile consumers. The excess number of vehicles on the road results in high levels of air pollution along with considerable noise pollution from the constant honking. The big and hefty industries in Delhi produce big clouds of smoke which makes it very difficult to breathe. The air pollution looks similar to the fog on a winter evening.

Explain how this problem can be solved​?

The pollution in Delhi can also be seen by the devastating state of the river Yamuna. The river Yamuna is a daylight broad example of severe water pollution in Delhi as well. The river contains no aquatic habitat but only has tons and tons of waste and black water. The levels of smog accumulated on the river have made its water undrinkable for humans and cattle. The residents of the city of Delhi can be seen washing cattle and clothes on the bank of the river and even dumping their sacred wastes into it, regardless of the strict punishment for this offence. Delhi is an example of a beautiful city that is severely affected by high levels of air pollution along with the alarming level of water and noise pollution. It was a great relief for my family and friends to come back to our city and breathe fresh air.

Taj Mahal is a historical monument that is a symbol of the undying love of a husband for his wife. The Taj Mahal is made exceptionally beautiful with white crafted marble which glistens in the dazzling sun and reflects nothing but pure beauty. I visited the taj mahal in Agra in Uttar Pradesh with two of my friends. I must admit, it was a sight to behold. The Taj mahal looked absolutely beautiful but we noticed something very disheartening. The mighty white colour of the Taj Mahal that was vividly visible in our textbooks did not match what we were seeing in front of our eyes.

What kind of pollution you saw there?

The Taj mahal looked yellow in colour. This yellow Taj Mahal is a result of the air pollution caused by the harmful smoke of the industries and factories which were situated near it. The discolouration also resulted from the acid rain wherein the harmful sulphur dioxides and nitrous oxides mixed with the droplets of water and caused acid rain. The white beauty of the taj mahal seemed to be washed away by this dangerous acid rain. With the blazing heat in the city of Agra, the city is being severely affected.

The temperature of Agra city has risen a lot due to the high levels of air pollution that are also destroying the Taj Mahal which is the beauty of the country India. The river Yamuna which flows from behind the mighty Taj Mahal is also severely affected by water pollution. The waste being dumped into the Yamuna river comes from industrial and household sources which include hazardous biomedical hazards as well. It was very disheartening to visit such a beautiful city which has a marvellous piece of art and attracts so many tourists, being affected by the wrath of pollution.

The issue of smog in Beijing covered major headlines of the news all over the world. I experienced the adverse effect of pollution on Beijing when I visited the city last month. Beijing is a big city with skyrocketing industries and buildings. The amount of work being done in the polluting factories and the number of vehicles running on the roads contribute to the greater levels of pollution in Beijing.

What kind of pollution you saw there?

The levels of air pollution in Beijing have risen due to the immense burning of coal which is used to produce electricity. The people in the city were seen wearing thick masks while walking in the streets. A thick cloud of white smoke seemed to be covering the city. The buzzing population in Beijing city has also contributed majorly to its air pollution crisis. The manufacturing industries in Beijing produce heavy quantities of smog which has given a sharp rise to respiratory-related diseases. I was baffled and scared.

Explain how this problem can be solved​?

I had to constantly keep my mask on because the air pollution made it difficult to breathe. The cars buzzed past and emitted dangerous pollution and the levels of noise pollution in the city were extremely high too. I used to feel nauseous all the time. My eyes used to hurt and become blood red with allergies due to the pollution. Along with this, I also caught a cold. Thus, my experience in the city of Beijing which is affected by pollution was a total nightmare.
