Model Answer 1

What is it?

I personally need a peaceful and serene place to read or write. Except for my own room, I prefer someplace with natural water bodies, plants, trees, etc. Hence, I visit a park near my home. It’s a public park built by the British that also has a public library, a pond, and a nursery. I prefer this place because this park is usually silent. Very less people come here. There are a nursery and old banyan trees. I love to spend time under the tree reading and writing.

Where is it?

I got the idea of studying at a park from Gilmore Girls. It is a TV series where the lead searches for a new study spot after she has left home. She finds the perfect place in a corner under a tree. The park near my home is huge. So it usually remains silent and peaceful. There are birds in the park. This has become an unusual study room for us and many others. On weekends, students come with canvas for paintings, studies, etc.

Why do you go there to read and write?

It was slightly distracting at the beginning but with time, I learned to focus on my work. During my study breaks, either I walk around the park or sit near the lake and watch the ducks, it’s very relaxing. I once came across an article describing the effect of colors on the mood, it said that the color green helps in calming your mind. Based on this article, I believe that studying among the trees should be beneficial. Even the chirping of the birds sounds musical. Strange as it may sound, I get distracted in complete silence. I prefer to be in a place where there is movement around me and this park is an apt location. After I am done studying for the day, I sit on one of the benches in the pathway before it gets dark. I like to snack because I get hungry very quickly when I study and thankfully, the park has a couple of food stalls. During winter, when it is too cold to study outside, I have the option of going to the public library and still taking walks during my study break. I would recommend studying in a park to all students.

Model Answer 2

What is it?

A book cafe is my preferred place for reading or writing, even more than my home. A typical book café will either have a collection of popular books or you can bring your own copy. I love these places because it combines my favorite hobby-reading and my favorite drink-coffee. I just love sitting in a cozy armchair with a book, surrounded by the coffee smell. I have the habit of carrying a book wherever I go and if I have even just a few minutes of free time, I find a café, order a good cup of coffee and disappear into my book.

One of my favorites is the Oxford bookstore, you can find one of these in most metro cities in India. They have books from all genres of fiction and non-fiction, for all age groups, including children. Every time I go there, I like to check out the Guinness Book of World Records for that year. They have the latest releases and even books from 80 years ago. I love how they have the complete series of all books that are a part of the series. When I cannot find a particular copy anywhere, I make sure to go to Oxford and sure enough, they have it.

Where is it?

There are a variety of seating options to choose from, including armchairs, beanbag chairs, and regular couches. I like to make notes whenever I am reading a book which makes me feel a lot of emotions. I usually note down some lines and elaborate on them from my perspective. The place has quite a number of study tables exactly for this. Now just like their book collection, their café menu is also diverse. You can choose from a wide selection of coffee drinks, shakes, and smoothies accompanied by baked goods, that add the bakery smell to the coffee smell and make it impossible for you to leave. You have books and food, there cannot be a spot as perfect as this to spend time. I usually spend no less than half a day whenever I go, honestly, if I could sleep there, I would.

Why do you go there to read and write?

The place has a lot of visitors but since it is a huge space, it never feels crowded. Although I have never studied here, I have seen groups of students sitting with their course material, studying and eating. I am sure this must be better than being at the library because the whole reading environment makes them speak softly and they can study and eat at the same time. I have recommended this place to friends, and now it’s their spot too.

Model Answer 3

What is it?

As popular as an option is, a library is a great place to go for activities that require your utmost concentration and away from all distractions. Till the time I joined college, I had never studied anywhere else apart from my home. But when you have roommates and it’s exam time, it can be chaotic. Someone likes to read aloud while studying, someone has friends over for group study and so the library is the best option. When I first visited the library in my college, it took me almost 2 hours to explore it. It has 5 floors, each with a specific purpose.

Where is it?

When I wanted to study on my own during the summers, I would sit in the AC room on the first floor or in the non-AC room during winter. When I had to study with friends or work with them on a group project, we sat on the couches on the second floor. Sitting on couches made it easier to have discussions, to teach one another and the setting allowed us to feel calm before the exams. When I required a computer, I sat in the technology room on the third floor. Carrying laptops and chargers and finding a power source for the charger can be a hassle and the computer room felt like a savior in those times. Other floors were dedicated to scientific journals, publications from the faculty, newspapers, magazines, and meeting rooms. Apart from the silence that is strictly maintained in the library, it helps to be studying in a place where you can find books on the topic you are studying and consult it immediately.

Why do you go there to read and write?

I love to snack while I am studying and not being allowed to eat was a major drawback of studying in the library. The number of students visiting the library increased exponentially during finals season and getting a seat was difficult. Once you found a seat, you could not leave it out of fear of losing it to someone else. It is difficult to remain focused in crowded spaces and I get distracted too easily. Due to these reasons, studying at the library was not one of my preferred spots but if you need to be in a strict environment to pay attention to the task at hand, a library serves that purpose. In my opinion, if you have the option of studying at a café or a park, go for it.
