Model Answer 1
Who he/she was
There are always a lot of different people we meet in life, but there are also people who are always willing to help. I met a person who was not a student or a coworker; rather, he was my neighbor.
How you met him/her
Since moving back home, I had rented a cozy residence with good lighting for reading and painting and worked for a coffee company. Sadly, however, everything abruptly changed, shifting from being pleasant to quite challenging from one moment to the next. I had met him months earlier; I won't name him here, but I can say that he was someone with a lot of life experience, a lot of enthusiasm, and a lot of love for coffee. He was living at the house I moved into when I met him.
What he/she did to help you
Anyway, I lost my job suddenly and was asked to leave my apartment by my landlord.
Tough times! I was at a loss for what to do. However, through his experience and way of understanding life, my neighbor helped me solve many of those issues, not only directly but also indirectly. I began working with him and received his assistance in maintaining my current residence without having to relocate.
What you learned from the experience
He was very good at coming up with practical solutions to problems. His life experience had made him very good at finding quick solutions and quick and effective ways to get things done.
He was a very good problem solver who was always professional and had a positive attitude about finding a solution. He always takes the initiative and sees solutions.I learned from this experience that it makes life easier and better to have support. Living with him these days has taught me that helping other people gives life meaning. When you give help to others, care about other people, and know that other people are around you, you do better.
Model Answer 2
Who he/she was
We meet many people in our lives. Some play an important role and some just pass by. I would like to tell you today how Chris Pattinson, whom I consider to be one of the most helpful people I have ever met. He was a coworker of mine at my previous employer for nearly two years and has assisted me in my work as a helpful coworker.
How you met him/her
Although I refer to Chris as a coworker in a more general sense, he was more like a mentor to me. He was significantly older than I was, both in terms of age and experience. However, neither his experience nor his age prevented him from nurturing me and teaching. I first met him after joining the company. He was my senior.
What he/she did to help you
He helped and teached me how to become my company's lead business development strategist. It is not easy to be a successful Business Developer in a highly competitive field like "travel and tourism," but Chris taught me how to become one in a relatively short amount of time. At work, he taught me a lot, like how to identify emerging business opportunities and establish long-term business relationships with prospects. But his advice on how to communicate effectively and confidently in any situation has been the most helpful to me in the long run. In fact, I was offered the position of Senior Communication Specialist at my current company because of my excellent communication and presentation skills. I enjoy every minute of being the "face" of my company.
What you learned from the experience
I believe I have regained my communication specialist skills and abilities. In addition, the self-assurance that Chris gave me has made me a better and more effective person in both my professional and personal lives. I mean, it's no small feat for me, an introvert, to be able to confidently converse with some of the best and brightest business minds in my country's industry.
Model Answer 3
Who he/she was
Mr. Richardson is a well-known university figure and a history professor. He was very helpful in completing my thesis on Old European History. He is an accomplished artist and letterer. Additionally, he enjoys socializing and helping his students in need. I would like to express my appreciation to you for providing me with this topic for a cue card.
How you met him/her
I met him when I went to the university. It was my first day and he was very helpful to get me settled. He was very noble person and always helpful.
What he/she did to help you
Mr. Richardson helped me out when I couldn't find a supervisor for my thesis. He let me designate him as my thesis supervisor. In fact, I would not have submitted the thesis on time if Mr. Richardson, the faculty dean, hadn't supported me. He always provided me with helpful instructions and the necessary information.
I chose Old History of the European Continent as my thesis topic after being instructed to do so. My favorite subject was history, and I was confident that I would be able to finish the assignment on time and without incident. However, following the selection of the topic, I stumbled through each step. I was unable to control the resources that were required for exploration, and I also did not obtain my supervisor, who would have been my mentor throughout the process. After all of the professors had been engaged, Mr. Richardson instructed me to add his name to the supervisor space on the thesis form.
What you learned from the experience
I was fortunate to have him as my supervisor. In addition, we understood each other very well, and he provided me with all of the necessary assistance. I felt like he was my loving father. I got a good result from the time I was under his supervision.
