  • When it happened?
  • What he/she persuaded you to do?
  • Why he/she persuaded you to do it?

Answer 1:

When it happened?

There’s this moment from my second year of college that sticks with me, all because someone managed to talk me into something I never thought I’d do. My friend — we were pretty close — kept urging me to sign up for this public speaking competition. Back then, even the thought of standing up in front of a crowd made my stomach twist into knots.

What he/she persuaded you to do?

She kept telling me I had what it took, that I was good at communicating, even though I just didn’t see it. Honestly, I was the shy one. I’d get nervous, worry I’d blank out, or that everyone would be judging me. I said no, again and again, but she wouldn’t let it go. She kept pushing, reminding me that you only really grow when you force yourself out of your comfort zone.

Why he/she persuaded you to do it?

What really got to me wasn’t just her pep talks — it was the way she backed them up. She sat with me while I wrote my speech, listened to me stumble through it after class, and pointed out where I went wrong, but never in a way that made me feel small. Slowly, her confidence in me started to chip away at all that self-doubt.

Whether you did it at last?

Eventually, I just went for it. I showed up on competition day, hands shaking, heart racing. But once I started talking, something shifted. I felt this wave of confidence, and before I knew it, it was over — and I’d won second place. I still remember how unreal that felt. Now, when I look back, I’m just grateful. If my friend hadn’t pushed me — gently, but she didn’t back down — I don’t think I’d have ever found that kind of confidence in myself. That experience really changed me.

Answer 2:

When it happened?

It was my elder brother who, some time back, inspired me to take up something really significant. It was two years ago, and I had fallen into the monotonous routine of doing nothing but studying and working. I did not take care of myself or engage in anything remotely close to self-care. I felt extremely tired, mentally drained, and slightly irritable every day, thinking to myself, “This is the way my life is now.”

What he/she persuaded you to do?

My elder brother, however, recognized this change in me before I did. With gentle persuasion, he told me how I was not taking care of my health and how I should start engaging more in physical activities, making it a habit to exercise regularly. I thought to myself, “How can I? I’m busy, I’m tired, it’s not possible.” I knew, however, that my elder brother was right, but I lacked the motivation to get started, which I couldn’t seem to find anywhere.

Why he/she persuaded you to do it?

My elder brother did not force me into doing it, but instead, he told me how it had helped him, how it had given him more energy, improved his concentration, reduced his stress levels, and made him feel more positive every day. Then, the final blow came when he told me, “I will wake up early in the morning and exercise with you, so you don’t have to do it alone.”

Whether you did it at last?

I finally agreed to join him for morning walks and light exercise, and within weeks, I could see the results for myself. I was feeling more energetic, more awake, more relaxed, and more positive, and I must say, I’m really thankful to my elder brother for not giving up on me. His persuasion was not for the sole purpose of exercise, but it helped me get on the right track to a more balanced lifestyle.

Answer 3:

When it happened?

One person who really changed my life was my school teacher. She’s the reason I picked my subject stream after tenth grade. Back then, I had no clue what I wanted. Everyone around me had something to say, and honestly, it felt like too much sometimes.

What he/she persuaded you to do?

I remember staying after class, just talking to her about all my doubts. I worried I couldn’t handle the science stream—people always said it was tough. But she listened, and then she just told me straight up that she’d seen how I worked in class. She said I had a knack for problem-solving and picking things apart, even when I didn’t see it in myself.

Why he/she persuaded you to do it?

She never pushed me to speed up. Instead, she presented me with all my options and opened doors to what science could possibly achieve. She kept telling me that if I showed up with effort, I would find my way. Her faith in me managed to peel off a little fear from me. However, it was her genuine concern that I managed to remember most.

Whether you did it at last?

I was afraid, but I listened to her advice and pursued science. In hindsight, it is easily one of the best decisions I have ever made. Her support did not only influence my academic path; it also changed my perception of myself. Today, I am grateful for her and her faith in me.
