Model Answer 1

Who this person is/was?

When faced with difficulty or a crisis, some people change. I had the luxury of knowing someone who had experienced a great deal of personal grief and was unable to rescue his wife. She was delayed in receiving her kidney transplant. He has made it his life's work to assist others in need of organ transplants ever since she passed away. The individual I'm referring to is a close friend of my father.

Where this person lives/lived?

He is our next-door neighbor. We were always very close and had often spent the evening together relaxing. His friend was a wonderful woman who was compassionate and strong.

What he/she has done to help people?

She had worked tirelessly for underprivileged families, to make sure that they get proper food, clothing, and education. But suddenly one day she fainted at home. On being admitted to the hospital, we got to know that her kidneys were failing and required an urgent transplant. Within a year, dialysis would stop working soon.

We did everything we could but were unable to find a match and soon she gave up. Throughout this process, Uncle had seen many loopholes in the system of procuring a transplant on time and also the lack of awareness about organ donation.

He made it his life’s mission to help people in similar crises and informed people about how to be an organ donor and register for it. He ran campaigns, held seminars at various places, and helped people in need of transplants. Many people benefitted from his endeavor and he saved many lives in the process.

I was always fascinated seeing his dedication and how fiercely he wanted to make a difference. I tried to help him after my school hours in documenting various requests online, as he wasn’t well-versed with technology as such. I learned many lessons from him and realized the true essence of “Action speaks louder than voice”

Explain how you know about this person?

He is our next door neighbour and a dear friend of my father's. That's why I know about him and his wife.

Model Answer 2

Who this person is/was?

Some people are naturally highly helpful and go out of their way to put other people before themselves. One such person was Miss Malik, my class instructor in middle school.

Where this person lives/lived?

She lived nearby and she was my teacher in school. She always became a role model for me and i always got inspired from her.

What he/she has done to help people?

She was always there for students who needed more attention, for those who got sick, and for those who were dealing with personal problems. She always used to put others first.

She lived near the school premises and was always available for people who needed her at any hour. She was one of the most selfless women I had ever come across and I’m glad she mentored us to be good human beings, and not how to compete with each other.

We never realized how magnanimous she was until the pandemic hit us and everything came to standstill. She registered herself with NGOs which were helping people coping with covid-19. Also, registered herself as a social worker so that she could visit door-to-door to ensure everyone was safe and had the basic needs covered.

During this time, she helped people financially and donated every month’s salary to ensure that people in the neighborhood got proper food and safety kits. We relentlessly helped people to get their tests done on time and tried to smoothen the entire process. She also made sure her online classes were exciting despite her busy schedule. Every student looked forward to her class online.

Explain how you know about this person?

When we got to know about her work, many students from our batch reached out to her to help her in any way possible. I, too, reached out and helped her in raising more funds. It was exhilarating to work with her and seeing her zeal towards the cause helped us all to maintain a positive attitude, even in the grimmest of times. It was an amazing experience to work with her and help people out on their difficult times.

Model Answer 3

Who this person is/was?

We frequently fail to look about us, but if we did, we would find many ordinary folks quietly impressing us every day without making a fuss with the same deeds. While we frequently lament India's pollution, we do nothing to aggressively reduce it. However, some people confront the issue and find a solution. The warden of my college's hostel was one such individual I knew.

Where this person lives/lived?

She lived with us in the hostel and unlike the strict/cruel reputation of wardens, she was an amazing lady who participated with students in various activities. By nature, she was a nurturing soul who cared about the environment around her and for her students. She made the place feel like home.

What he/she has done to help people?

She hated when someone littered in the college or ill-treated the dogs within the college premises. She used to bring injured street dogs into the campus and immunize them to give them shelter within the college. In no time, all the dogs were also a part of the family whom every student cared for and treated like their own dog. Her compassion towards the environment was noteworthy.

She worked closely with the nature club, to ensure that the college remains clean and all the trees and flower plants are properly cared for. She was the most caring person on the campus and everyone in college immensely respected her. Her enthusiasm towards growth was unprecedented. She always strived to save people or make their lives better directly or indirectly.

Explain how you know about this person?

This person is someone who helped me survive my first year in college. She has been a mentor to me for life who might seem like an ordinary person to you. But everywhere she goes, she brings life to that place through her compassion and zealous personality. She became an inspiration for me and for others. She made me realise that if we are consuming the resources and nature then it's our duty to maintain it too.
