Model Answer 1

What was it?

Natural disasters, formerly thought to be exceptional and tragic turn of events, are now happening very frequently all over the world. The likelihood of natural disasters happening every second has grown as a result of rising global warming. No nation is immune to these extreme climatic shifts, not even India or the United States of America. In 2020, there were around 29 natural catastrophes in Indonesia alone. I have personally experienced one in Bihar. Bihar has been home to many natural disasters and people are quite used to it because the river Koshi is there and it is prone to drought. But being only a native and not a resident, I had never personally faced something even close to a natural disaster.

When was it?

It was late at night when everyone saw that the sky was pouring rain. People ignored the presence of rain and considered it a natural thing because it was a monsoon. But soon after that, the rain went uncontrollable and it worried almost everyone. I was scared because I had never noticed such a thing in my life before.

What exactly happened?

The next day, we were informed that a nearby village had faced drought and the people were drowning in mud and water. Some people were running for their lives and the rest were trapped inside their homes. The transportation route was clogged and so were the vehicles around there. People were praying to God for their lives, some were hoping that the weather report would help but it only got worse because the storm had cut off the power there.

How did it affect your area?

Everyone was in great terror. The eyes reflected suffering. The smiles and happiness had vanished. Animals were drowning and they were helpless. My distinct relatives had called to check on us because the situation was all over the news channels and radios. Thanks to the media these days, the rescue team came only after a day of all this happening and people were saved. The ones who were trapped inside were taken out. People were provided with food and shelter. The injured people and animals were taken care of. Even though the disaster was traumatic, it felt like God could hear us and save us.

Model Answer 2

What was it?

We are the ones responsible for the rising temperatures that are brought on by global warming. As a result, natural calamities happen frequently. These natural disasters' outcomes are due to human activity. There have been numerous people left homeless as a result of these catastrophes, which have occurred all across the world. An earthquake was one of the tragedies that hit my region.

When was it?

I witnessed one on a random day at my home in Delhi. Delhi is undoubtedly the land of many earthquakes and this was the one that terrorized millions of people. I was sitting on my couch and watching the television with my family when I felt a sudden tremble in the land beneath my feet. I looked up to check if the fan was affected by it or not and it was. Everyone rushed down to the ground floor because we knew it was yet another earthquake but this one wasn’t any ordinary. It was 2016 when this happened.

What exactly happened?

After a while of the earth-shaking, we went back home and checked the news. While we were here comparatively safe in our homes, there were people in Nepal who were severely affected by the earthquake. This was no ordinary earthquake. It had a magnitude of about 6-7. It had damaged several buildings there and had taken the lives of people. We called our relatives all over to check if they were safe or not but I wondered what had gone through the hearts of the people who died of no fault in that earthquake.

How did it affect your area?

People lost their lives while they were sitting at their homes. It makes me question how we are not even safe under our roofs. It seems so harsh to see that people are losing lives because we cannot live in a natural environment. We misuse the resources of nature and innocents have to pay the cost by losing their lives. It’s brutal to see that humanity has no place for the environment and continues to exploit it for temporary comforts and luxuries.

Model Answer 3

What was it?

In recent years, many countries have faced natural disasters, like tsunamis, earthquakes, tornados, droughts, etc. These disasters not only cause collateral damage but also leave a major impact on the lives of people. We only see the surface of these damages and feel sympathy for the people going through them but the ones who suffer lose the lives of their loved ones and lose the homes that they might have spent decades building. These events are created by no other creatures than humans yet we blame them. The rise in global warming leads to these events and it is we who have caused it.

When was it?

I had this epiphany when I faced an earthquake years ago. I was only a kid then but I could feel some amount of empathy for others to understand this. I realized that it was an earthquake when the fan escalated and the ground felt like it was trembling and wanted to explode. I couldn’t understand what was going on but I rushed out of my house as soon as my mother called me with a tone of panic in her voice.

What exactly happened?

I noticed all my neighbors had gathered around and they were discussing how this was impacting the other regions of our country in a much worse situation. I heard the term global warming for the first time back then and felt like it was some disease because it took hundreds of lives and made people homeless. I questioned if it wasn’t a disease then why would anyone not do anything to save the homes of these people? Why was it only a term to debate about and not a situation to save?

How did it affect your area?

If people were so aware of it then why didn’t anyone take any action? Of course, my questions remain unanswered. People might send rescue teams to save the lives of these people but their hearts might still remain shattered by their losses and it’s inhuman to look at their broken hearts and not take action to do something about it.
