Model Answer 1

Where it was?

I went to Germany for higher studies. The availability of books was difficult. hence, I had to depend on the library for books. It was about two months ago when I visited the Berlin State Library. It is located in the heart of Berlin. This is one of the best libraries that contain all printed materials and books. Commonly known as Stabi, the library contains the properties of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation. It is known to be the largest library in Europe. This library has a universal collection of books, the oldest bible, novels, references, research materials, and so on.

Why you went there?

This library has an international collection of books. The collection varies from German, Spanish, Indian, Sanskrit, and all other languages of the world. The best part of it is that it contains collections of some famous artists like Beethoven, Mozart, etc. I visited the library to learn about the origin and the various books and media in its stores. I had heard a lot about it from one of my friends who had completed her studies there.

How you know about this library?

It was an utmost pleasure to visit the library as it had collections from all around the world. I found some rare collections that were difficult to spot anywhere else. As I sat inside I picked up a book on the ancient history of Germany. The book was old and also in german so I couldn’t understand every part. The images in the book were shedding some light on the historical developments of Germany.

Explain your experience in this library?

I really enjoy navigating through the library and reading some of the books. As I sat in the reading area I could witness people reading different manuscripts, and books and gazing at the exemplary architecture of the library. Even though I am not a big fan of reading books, I somehow enjoyed my visit to the library.

Model Answer 2

Where it was?

I would like to talk about the National Library of Malaysia that I visited about a month ago. Located in Kuala Lumpur, the library is in the center of the city. As I was pursuing my master's at the University of Kuala Lumpur I decided to visit the library as it has a huge collection of books, magazines, and reference books.

Why you went there?

I wanted to research a topic that I had picked up for my thesis. Even though I could easily access the university’s library, it didn't have all the material that I was looking for, which is why I visited the National Library. I visited the library thrice a week and spent hours researching and studying the material. I had a keen interest in the historical issues that Malaysia had faced and could find a plethora of literature at the National Library.

How you know about this library?

The staff at the library was extremely pleasant. I told them about the literature I was looking for and they guided me patiently toward all the material that they had. Besides, they also suggested some of the websites that I could refer to, for more information. The reading area of the library was gigantic. I could see many people around the reading area working, researching, and surrounded by a pile of books. The reading was always crowded. Even so, the reading area was always quiet as people who visited the library were too busy with their own work.

Explain your experience in this library?

One of the reasons why I visited the library time and again was because it was quiet and I could completely focus on my work. I managed to complete all my research work while sitting at the library, which I could have never accomplished in my University library due to a lack of literature. All-in-all it was a great experience to be visiting the library. I gained immense knowledge on the topic that I had picked up for my research. Besides, in my free time, I also scouted literature about the historical, economical, and cultural development of Malaysia.

Model Answer 3

Where it was?

I am not a bibliophile, but if someone suggests a good book I would definitely give it a read. So about a year ago, I visited the Delhi Public Library. I visited the library with a friend who is a bookworm. She told me how it was the biggest book repository in India. Even though I was reluctant at first, she persuaded me to accompany her to visit the library.

Why you went there?

The Delhi Public library has a collection of almost 1.5 million books. From books in different languages to academic literature for competitive exams, related to engineering, science, law, etc, everything can be found here. So my friend was a research scholar and she wanted to research a topic to publish a paper. We asked the library staff and they directed us to the floor where the literature for the specific topic could be found. The best part of the library was its Braille Section for visually impaired people. There was also a separate reading corner for them. It was a well-lit reading corner that contained books, texts in Braille, and also recorded format. I couldn’t find a dedicated section for the visually impaired in any other library in Delhi. Every floor had a Braille section and a dedicated reading corner.

How you know about this library?

The reading corners were huge and extremely quiet. I loved the way they arranged the different books, and materials alphabetically and categorically. After navigating through the library for an hour I went on to the fiction section, while my friend was studying for her topic. The fiction section was another good thing about this library. From Harry Potter to Game of Thrones I could find all sorts of books here. Surprisingly, they also had a small section for comic books, manga, etc.

Explain your experience in this library?

I could also see some superhero goodies that we could purchase. All-in-all it was a great experience visiting this library. I immediately signed up for their membership on my way out. Even today I visit the library, especially the fiction section of the library as their collections get renewed every month.
