But here I would also like to talk about a time when I had a chance to visit a fish market. Approximately three months ago, I visited Ambala City for my cousin's wedding. So that's the reason I visited a local fish market the very first time with him. While entering the marketplace, the place was very noisy and the people kept shouting and yelling.

What did you see there?

The customers will bargain for the cheaper rates for the fish and other seafood which were being sold by the fishermen. Firstly, the sellers will keep high pricing for the fish and they start selling their goods at a high price. People start bargaining and they reduce the price according to the demand and the supply. This happens with every customer and also with every purchase and hence this causes more noise pollution in the fish market.

How was the experience?

Because of this heavy noise pollution, this fish market is often used when there is more noise around in one concentrated place. But however, everything has some negative impacts and everyone strives to get benefitted and that facilitates someone sometimes and the others in later times. The only negative things are always managed and according to me, going there teaches me a lot in my daily routine life. As a concluding point, I want to add that going to the market will be a boring task for kids but for adults and grown people, they can learn many things and they also know the value of patience and silence.

I visited the fish market with my uncle who has to make a bulk order of fish for his son’s marriage. The market is very famous in the city and nearby places for its healthy and fresh fish and they sell live fish for a very reasonable price. It is so popular due to the fact that the fish was fresh and bought directly by the fishermen. People also go there to buy white and red goat meat as it is also sold there. I am a vegetarian and I don’t eat fish but I was extremely curious about the varieties of fish and the process of selling it. I went there about a month ago. My uncle is a non-vegetarian and he went there to make the bulk order for the marriage.

What did you see there?

I saw hundreds of hawkers and fishermen yelling to attract buyers and sell their fish and make money. Everyone was busy cutting and packing fish. My uncle took me to a big shop where there were dozens of boxes full of fish covered with ice boxes. The market was filled with the smell of fish's smell. I asked my uncle and the vendors about the variety being sold there. He reciprocated that there are mainly two types of fish that were available in this market. freshwater and saltwater but people in this area prefer freshwater ones mostly. As he thought that I was curious to know, he also told me the names of some famous dishes made from the aquatic animals and their types such as Salmon, Sole, pomfret, and Tuna.

How was the experience?

He went to the vendor and made his order then we moved to another shop. He made an order for other seafood too which included some oysters, lobsters, and prawns. My uncle was telling me about everything related to the market and he said this seafood is exotic and this is why it is costly. I was happy when he was done with all the orders as I couldn’t withstand the stink and butchers cutting the animals. Honestly, my overall experience was not so good.

The entire procedure taking place in the fish market is that the fishermen catch the fish from there and supply it to the market and the fish is considered to be very healthy food for the youngsters. In India, there are a lot of people who prefer eating fish. South Indians like to eat fish. I want to see how this business works. That's why I would like to visit there. I have watched a number of documentaries on YouTube where they have shown all about the fishery.

What did you see there?

In this market, a wide variety of fish can be purchased and the price is quite economical than other places in the world so the middle-class can also buy the fish. Regionally, in our state, the fish is imported from other states and hence the fish is quite costly and they have more price when compared to the other parts of India.

How was the experience?

My experience was a blend of good and neutral. Because it felt great to visually experience and know about different seafood but it was very hard for me to bear the smell and their cruelty throughout the time I was in the fish market. There was blood everywhere all around the place and the people who cut the pieces were also present in the nearby places. Finally, after going to that place I got to know all about the fishery and how they were sold, and what happens to the fish after they were caught from the freshwater or nearby lakes. The people were very kind at that place and they are so dedicated to their work and the only thing opposing that I found is that the noise pollution which must be controlled by the individual itself.
