Model Answer 1

Who is this person?

The one person who has been an integral part of my life since early adolescence is my first cousin. Growing up in a joint family, I needed someone who can understand my choices and help me with navigating life. She is younger than me and we have been spending most of the time with each other.

When are you usually together?

My sister is that person for me. She has always had my back. Whether it's sneaking in after a late night or waking up early to study for exams. We spend so much time together that our family never calls me or her with our names—we are always called together. From books to clothes to accessories, we share everything. But beyond our material sharing, what I cherish the most is the emotional bond that we have.

What do you do together?

Whenever I am with her, I laugh a lot—but she is also the only person who has ever seen me cry. She works extremely hard and wants to open a boutique.

Explain why you spend the most time with this member of your family?

It makes me so proud to see her toil for her dreams. Years ago, my uncle (her father)wanted to move to another city for work. I remember how hard my heart sank at the thought of losing her. Thankfully things didn't work out and we got to share many more years of companionship. The reality of our circumstances does not phase me. We are both growing up. Soon I'll be moving out for further studies and we won't be seeing each other for months, years on a stretch. This painful realization has made me feel incredibly grateful for the years I spent with my baby sister. I hope she knows how much she means to me, and how happy I am that I get to share this life with her.

Model Answer 2

Who is this person?

I don't have a lot of time at hand since I juggle between studies and social circles. But whenever I do, I spend most of my time with my mother. My mother is an extraordinary lady who has worked incredibly hard to raise her two kids. Widowed at the age of 35, my mother picked herself up by the bootstraps and worked day and night to provide for me and my sister.

When are you usually together?

She is a Hair Stylist and Beauty expert. We love getting facials together and share all our skincare products. She opened her salon when I was seven years old and started working for 8 hours every day, on top of looking after her household. But she never let a drop of sweat shadow over her daughters.

What do you do together?

My mother loves watching web series just like I do, and it has become our favorite weekend activity. Other than that, I enjoy cooking with her. Strength and determination ooze out from her. She has seen some incredibly tough days, which has given her an incredible perspective on life. All of her friends come to her when they want advice or a shoulder to weep.

Explain why you spend the most time with this member of your family?

If I could be a quarter as good a mom myself, I'll be so glad. Making her proud is my North Star. I want to be the daughter she deserves. From the very beginning of my life, I have seen my mother juggle household chores with a career. She is the reason I am a feminist. She has given me lessons of courage and discipline not with her words, but with her actions. Having such a strong woman as a role model has had an impact on me. I seek her support in every ordeal of life. Looking back at the time I have spent with her, I can truly say that she's my best friend and my favorite person--not just in my family but in the whole world.

Model Answer 3

Who is this person?

The person in my family that I spend the most time with is my father's baby sister and my paternal aunt. Although the designation makes it sound like she is from another generation, she is just a year older than me. Growing up, we did go to the same school but we weren't so close. Then one day, when I was in school, a bully tried to grab my lunch after shoving me up against a wall. As soon as she heard the news, she came rushing to my class and slapped the bully so tight. Seeing her stand up for me was thrilling.

When are you usually together?

Since that day, we have become inseparable. We share gossip, laugh our hearts out, twin outfits, and make daily trips to our favorite snacks shop. She wants to become a lawyer and is preparing for her entrance exams.

What do you do together?

We wake up early to revise our concepts and conduct mocks together, in which the person scoring the lowest scores of the week has to do laundry. Sharing life with her is so fun. She is a headfast and courageous girl who has never backed out of a challenge.

Explain why you spend the most time with this member of your family?

I am tremendously inspired by her grit. I often joke that I want her to be on my side for the rest of my life like she was in school that afternoon. Especially now that she will have the powers of a law degree with her. But I know, wherever she goes, she'll always be reachable to me.
