Model Answer 1

What was the decision? and How was it made?

As a result, I'm going to explain today why I disagreed with a decision that an older sibling made. My dissent was not just forceful but also substantial.

The choice was made on the kind of college to attend after graduation. My sister said that attending a coed institution would give me more exposure and that I should consider doing so. However, I believed that I would benefit more from attending a college with a higher ranking. Aside from the fact that it was a women's institution, everything about the school—including the ranking—was excellent. I didn't agree with her choice in this case.

What do you disagree with?

It all began with the release of the first cutoff of the university. The type of college I could get in this cutoff was the co-ed one preferred by my sister. I went for the interview and got admission. I, however, always wanted to go for the other college that wasn't co-ed because of its better ranking and other facilities. Fortunately, the second cut-off was released according to which I could easily get admission to the college I wanted. I talked to my sister about it but she insisted on sticking to the first one, just by the argument that it was "co-ed". But, I disagreed with her and went on with my choice. The first day I went there for admission and the college felt like my own. I also interacted with the faculty members and I knew that this was the right place for me. Without any delays, I got myself enrolled there and am happily studying there.

And explain why you disagreed with it?

I disagreed with her because not only me but everyone to whom I told about the scenario agreed with me,i.e. to go for the non-co-ed better ranking college. Also, I felt that if it is about exposure then an individual can get exposure in any type of college. It depends upon how much effort you put in. Lastly, I would like to conclude that the decision regarding your college is the most crucial one. The kind of college you pick up will determine your future. And the final decision should always be yours as you know what's best for you. No one, not even your parents knows what's better for your future than you yourself. Even today, I can proudly say that I made the right decision for myself.

Model Answer 2

Another choice I disagreed with was that of my classmates, and I have no remorse whatsoever for doing so.

What do you disagree with?

When I was in 8th standard, some of my classmates decided to harass a newcomer in the class. I completely disagreed with them and did not join them.

What was the decision? and How was it made?

During one of the free periods, all of them got together and thought of doing something. So, they decided to make the newcomer sit on a chair while they would pull the chair from behind. They all agreed to it. But, I felt bad for the kid and did not join them. I also told them to stop thinking in that direction but no one paid attention to my opinion. They went forward with the idea.

Explain why you disagreed with it?

I disagreed with my classmates because I knew that it wasn't the right path. What will you get by doing such a deed? Nothing, but just a bad impression. Moreover, looking at the newcomer's situation, what she would have felt made me disagree with them. What if I was in her place also made me disagree with them. And I am glad that I did not join them because it's not right to play with other's emotions.

Model Answer 3

What do you disagree with?

The choice I make about my work is another significant one in my life. You must have confidence in your decisions if you want to make the best choice. The next stage was to select the best stream for me after graduating from the tenth grade. Due to my strong performance in class in the tenth grade, many people insisted that I choose either the scientific or the business stream. My principal had actually encouraged me to choose a commerce major.

What was the decision? and How was it made?

The decision was to go for either the commerce or science stream. But, I disagreed with it. I wanted to go with humanities. My parents did not force me with their choice. However, they also wanted me to opt for commerce because of societal pressures and the stigma regarding humanities. But, they respected my decision to go for humanities and I went for it. I truly believe that it was the right decision to just ignore society and go for what you feel you can confidently pursue.

Explain why you disagreed with it?

I disagreed with it because I had in my mind everything planned out according to the humanities stream. I was also never confident in opting for commerce or science. However, I had the feeling that humanities would be best for me. I am happy that I chose the stream as I loved the subjects and in fact, was one of the toppers of the stream. I would like to conclude by saying that don't go by what others say. Always go by what you think will be good for you. Whatever you will do, you will never be able to shut others’ mouths. Don't go by societal stigmas. And trust me, you will never regret your choice.
