Model Answer 1

When was it?

Even while the majority of us do not intentionally commit crimes, we occasionally do so either knowingly or unknowingly. I want to share with you a time when I was caught and punished for committing a crime. At the time, I was sixteen years old, and my hormones were in overdrive. Most young people my age are interested in drinking and smoking. I begged my father several times to let me learn to drink and smoke. But he never agreed, telling me it was dangerous for my health and that I shouldn't try it in the future. I used to daydream and fantasise about going to a pub or club where people are dancing and drinks are all over the place.

What crime was it?

One day I was alone at home. I took advantage of the situation by inviting one of my friends over, and when he arrived at my house. He brought cigarettes and alcohol inside, and we went under the table into the basement.

How did you get involved?

I wasn't first certain if it would be appropriate for me to bring drinks from home. I nevertheless did it, propelled by my insatiable curiosity and peer pressure.

How did you feel?

I was ecstatic as we sneaked the items down when all of a sudden, my father saw us and stopped us as I was having my first sip. We became numb when he demanded to know how we obtained the beverages and began shouting, and I immediately lost my composure. My friend, on the other hand, had already escaped, and I was speechless due to my numbness. I was holding a beer bottle and a lit cigarette when my father approached and took them both away. The entire week went by without him speaking to me. And at that point I understood that he was doing it for my well being and that I ought to strive to change as well.

Model Answer 2

When it was?

We don’t usually commit crimes knowingly. There are moments when we actually forget that we were not supposed to do that thing or we could have checked prior to going for something. I would like to introduce you to one such incident that took place when I was new to riding motorcycles. I had just received my license from the transport ministry department of our state and was eager to ride on the road without any fear. I still remember, when I didn’t have my license with me, I was so afraid of every traffic guard that I used to cross. I secretly used to pray not to get stopped at any signal. Once, I was all set to leave for a long ride towards a beach location in Kolkata. I had decked up all the necessities including my documents. I went on the road with all my confidence, but at this one stop, I had to go through a checkpoint.

What crime it was?

I was stopped by the traffic guards at that checkpoint and was asked for all the documents and legal papers on my bike. I produced all the documents for them, however, upon going through all the documents, the head traffic guard pointed out that my Pollution Under Control certificate had expired. I was frightened at that particular moment, as he asked me why it wasn’t updated.

Why you got involved?

I was frightened at that particular moment, as he asked me why it wasn’t updated. I instantly thought of an excuse to make, however, that was all in vain as he asked me to show my mobile’s inbox where I was notified about the expiration of my Pollution under control certificate.

How did you feel?

I requested the head to let me go this time with the penalty paid and promised myself that day that I would keep a check on my papers and legal documents. The police were good enough to let me go with a small amount of fine and asked me to get done with the pollution as soon as possible. They also mentioned that two kilometers ahead, I will cross a petrol pump where I can update my pollution certificate.

Model Answer 3

When it was?

We seldom commit crimes on purpose. There are times when we forget that we weren't meant to do something or that we should have checked before doing so. I would like to present to you an incident that happened to me recently. I travel to my office every day by local train. I have to change trains two times in a row to reach my destination. For this purpose, to avoid everyday queues near the ticket counter, I make a monthly pass. It costs me the same amount that I would have to pay every day in a month. Thus, this one morning, like every other day, I availed the first train from my nearest station to reach the Sealdah station where I had to change my train.

What crime it was?

That was the end of March and I forgot to check for the expiry of the monthly pass. However, once I got down at the station, I started walking towards the platform where I get to catch the train that goes to the nearest station to my office. I was stopped by the ticket checker and he asked me to show my journey ticket. After a small conversation, I produced the monthly pass to him to which he said that it expired two days ago.

Why you got involved?

I was so afraid because this was the first time that it happened to me. I have seen people getting into this kind of criminal offense, however, I have never committed the same in my life. I explained my problem and my fault that I forgot to check the pass this morning. The ticket checker asked me to pay a small amount of fine for this offense and I was charged Rs. 250 as a penalty.

How did you feel?

The ticket checker asked me to pay a small amount of fine for this offense and I was charged Rs. 250 as a penalty. Post that incident, I was half an hour late for my office. I promised myself that day that I would always check my ticket prior to leaving my house for its expiry.
