Model Answer 1
Where the country is?
A couple of months ago I went to Greece. We stayed in a town named Xania, which is situated on the coast in the northwest of the Greek Island of Crete. It is a really picturesque town with a large harbor, small cobbled streets, and many ancient buildings. I went there with my friend Joe for a one-week holiday.
When did you visit the country?
We got there through various means of transport, taking a taxi to the airport, then a five-hour flight, followed by a thirty-minute taxi ride to the place where we were staying. The whole journey took around nine hours from door to door, which was a little longer than we expected it to take, although we didn’t have any major delays, thank goodness.
What were the interesting things about it?
I enjoyed my stay there a lot, as I had not had a holiday for ages and needed to switch off from work. We didn’t do much sightseeing, although Crete itself has a fascinating and long history, so we went to the local museum to learn more about it. I spent most of my time reading books and swimming in the sea, which I admit was quite colder than I thought it would be.
How did you feel about visiting the country?
I also enjoyed walking around the ancient streets in the town and eating the delicious Cretan food. One of the things I loved the most, was going to the local restaurant Xalkina, where they had live Cretan music every night. The musicians were playing instruments that I had never seen before, and I loved the tempo and style of the music they played. I would definitely like to go back to Crete one day, though this time I would probably make more effort to see the amazing sights of the rest of Greece.

Where the country is?
I suppose I should start by highlighting the point of where this country is. The total number of countries that I’ve visited till date can actually be counted on the fingers of one hand. Among those, Nepal is one that truly amazed me by various factors. Nepal is famously known as “the daughter of Himalayas” or “the daughter of the mountain”, this small South Asian country is landlocked between China and India.
When did you visit the country?
I visited this beautiful country in the summer with my family, during my summer holidays. Being home to eight of the world’s tallest mountain, including Mount Everest, Nepal attracts thousands of tourists every year from around the globe. Nepal is also a land of friendly and engaging people, where deities mingle with mortals and magnificent temples, and where historical monuments and monasteries can be found at almost every turn.
What were the interesting things about it?
After arriving in Nepal, I first traveled around the beautiful capital city of Kathmandu, in order to learn about the lifestyles, cultures, and spiritual life of people living there. Next, I headed to view the stunning and giant mountain range of the Himalayas by visiting “Dhulikhel” which is about a two hours’ drive from Kathmandu.
How did you feel about visiting the country?
After, that I visited Pokhara, where Nepal’s startling beauty is at its best, which has been the subject of many travel writers. In fact, its pristine air, the spectacular backdrop of snowy peaks of the Annapurna Range, and serene Begnas, Phewa, and Rupa Lakes, makes this destination “the Jewel of the Himalaya”. I even explored the fascinating Kathmandu Valley which consists of three ancient cities, including Patan, Kathmandu, and Bhaktapur. The valley houses seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites and is also home to myriad monuments, artistic temples, sculptures, and magnificent artworks. I enjoyed eating the delicious local food served in the restaurants the most. I have also planned to pay this beautiful country the second visit in the future to explore the rest of the Nepal.

My father is a businessman in Singapore and he goes to various locations for work. I frequently travel with him on the short journeys. He has never travelled outside of Asia and Europe, and I have already made plans to go with him if he decides to travel to America for any business-related reasons.

How did you feel about visiting the country?
Although America appears to be a giant cat lying down on a globe map, there are distinctions between the lying cat and the actual America. The nation has a sizable population and has seen some notable historical occurrences. Canada lies between America and Alaska. Southwest of North America is where the Hawaii islands are located. Taking into account the land and water within the nation, this is the third-largest country in the world. Due to the country's diverse geography, the climate differs within it. The climate is frequently humid continental and sporadically humid subtropical. Before Columbus' discovery in 1492, the land had already seen some early colonisation in the 14th century. Since that time, America has taken an active role in numerous global events. Currently, it is the world's most developed nation.
