Topic: Dance IELTS Speaking Part 1

Question 1: What do you think when you think of dance?

Ans. I feel dance is an art and it is that creative aspect of human lives, in which not all could be well–versed. While on the other hand, I opine that dancing for a layman(common person) is all about enjoying and making certain movements out of your flexible arms and legs. Expressions and other minutes (details of dancing) shall be entertained as well in dancing but I believe, these lie on the part of professionals and not ordinary people.

Vocabulary:

  • layman: A very common man, not specialized in specific subjects

Question 2: Do you enjoy dancing IELTS speaking?

Ans. This would have some complicated answers because I usually, in public places, don’t prefer dancing but on the other hand, I really enjoy dancing (relaxing/setting arms and legs free / mentally relieved). I enjoy setting myself free in this monotonous life and getting a kind of therapy for mental and physical well – being.Unfortunately, I couldn’t dance so well and that’s one of the reasons I don’t prefer showing my less strategic ( impulsive and quirky) moves. The fear of not dancing well sometimes stops me from dancing but sooner or later I have realized that it’s either fear or dance, both can’t exist simultaneously. Albeit, dance always is an option to exercise and relax at the same time, to me.

Vocabulary:

  • enjoy: relaxed and mentally relieved while doing something
  • simultaneously: at the same time

Question 3: Do you like dancing?

Ans. Well, dancing makes me happy. I like to dance. I have participated in several dancing functions in my school's cultural program. Dancing is my hobby. Sometimes I try to dance to cheer my mood up. I really feel happy.

Question 4: Tell me something about any of the folk dances from your country. Did you learn any of these?

Ans. In my country, there are almost, I think, eight different kinds of folk dances belonging to different states. Kathak (katha + bodily movements) is the folk dance from my home district of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is a dance form that is kind of termed secular in contemporary discourse because of its history of origin to be in both the Hindu and Islamic cultures of India. Kathak was originally an art of storytelling which later on integrated with various hand gestures, facial expressions, bodily movements and foot strategies to make it a complete dance form. These folk dances are considered as the heritage of the nation and are looked after in order to preserve them. Unfortunately, I never got any opportunity as of now to learn these folk dances.

Vocabulary:

  • secular acceptable to all the religions
  • heritagesomething which is inherited from the past

Question 5: If you are given an opportunity to learn any type of dances, will you take it? Or not? Why?

Ans. Actually, I think no, I will not accept that opportunity. I was never interested in dance too much to make it my profession or to get serious about it anytime in my life. I simply enjoy dancing, whenever, I want to (willingly) ! Depending upon my mood and stress level. Also I never had an aptitude (genetics) in it as well. Although my mother is a very good dancer, I think I don’t share that talent with her. So, probably I would never take this opportunity to learn dancing and will always try to leave space for the deserved ones.

Question 6: What do you think about the interest of the current generation towards dancing?

Ans. As much I have seen, I believe that the current generation of my age and so on, are majorly into contemporary (a form of dance) dancing and salsa and all. They usually prefer dancing by the beats of EDM music, they generally enjoy it. And apart from this, of course, I couldn’t deny the fact of diversity as well, different people and varied interests.

Question 7: Do you think that the traditional dances will still be popular in the future?

Ans. I think, yes, traditional dances have their own essence and importance and there is nothing comparable to those. Traditional and folk dances are a kind of national heritage (national importance) to us and it must be preserved and protected for future generations to find the glory ( pride) in it. And also if we talk about the professionals and passionate people in this field, they all mostly are aware of the importance of traditional dancing and it’s preservation.

Vocabulary:

  • preserved : conserve or save something from getting damaged

Question 8: So, when was the last time you danced?

Ans. I would say it’s just been a fortnight ( two weeks), I last danced. It was a precious occasion of my sister’s wedding when I was all loose ( relaxed) and I hit (go to) the floor. It was all about the free body movements and gestures along with some essence of Bollywood style.

Question 9: Why do you think other people like dancing and are ready to build their career in the same?

Ans. I think it’s all about relaxing and letting your mind free, majorly that could be a reason why most of the people like dancing. And obviously, those who are really passionate about it, would be more generous (honest) towards dancing and are talented enough to understand it’s intensity and deal with it efficiently and that’s why they are more inclined towards dancing. On the other hand, I completely believe that dancing doesn’t require any reasons, it’s kind of a ‘go with the flow’ thing that just requires our fresh mood and flexible body, that’s it.

Question 10: Do you think there exists any kind of benefits of dancing? If yes, what?

Ans. Yes, definitely, dancing has its own plenty of perks. First of all, as I've been emphasizing (focus) since the commencement (starting) of this conversation about the relaxing aspect of dancing. So, yes this is one of the greatest advantages of dancing which turns all of us free and relaxed without any efforts. Secondly, if I talk about the concrete benefits of dancing then I would say yes it helps in physical therapy as it keeps our body parts more flexible than ever. And also would help in the maintenance of the functioning of the internal organs of the body. So, dancing has both psychological and physical benefits.
