Countries Should Start Using Nuclear Power As Their Main Source Of Energy IELTS Writing Task 2

Nuclear energy can be used for a number of reasons. Nuclear sources of energy are clean energy sources with no carbon emissions. It produces energy by splitting uranium atoms to release a huge amount of energy. It maintains the air quality by removing a huge amount of hazardous air pollutants that cause the harmful diseases such as cancer, asthma, cardiovascular problems, etc. Although nuclear energy is a low carbon emission source, it also generates more electricity in less area as compared to the other sources of energy. It is also observed that nuclear power plants have significantly more power generating ability, thus helping in the production of the larger industrial areas.

Apart from the electricity purpose, I have observed that nuclear energy is also very helpful in medical diagnosis and treatment. Most of the patients admitted to the hospitals are treated with the radioactive materials. Nuclear medical imaging is done by managing the safe isotopes along with the camera imaging. This helps the doctors to find the location and size of the tumors and continues the further treatment accordingly. Some of the diseases treated with nuclear energy are lymphomas, bone pain in cancer patients, thyroid cancer, hyperthyroidism, etc.

The opponents believe that there are various drawbacks of using the nuclear source of energy. They believe that it requires a large amount of investment to start this project. Moreover, there are prominent hazardous situations that cannot be neglected such as physical injuries, development of the health problems in workers, high death rate, etc.

I believe that these drawbacks can be overcome by finding the appropriate solutions to the problems because this change in source of energy will take the earth to a new level which will provide a lot of benefits to the future generations.

In modern civilization, electricity is used at a growing pace such as in household chores, industrial areas, charging of electric vehicles, etc. So, I believe that we should find a permanent solution to this rising problem because use of fossil fuels is highly dangerous to the environment and human health. In this case, generation of electricity from fossil fuels should be replaced by the nuclear power energy source. Nuclear energy has shown its ability to act as a catalyst in delivering environmentally friendly power and clean energy.

Apart from this, I have seen the use of nuclear energy in day- to- day life. It is used in agriculture purposes and helps to preserve the food. Genetic modification, water usage control, and pest control are the three main applications of nuclear power as a source of energy in the agricultural field. Instead of using synthetic pesticides, farmers can opt the usage of radioisotopes to manage the pest attack that ruins the crops quality. The pest population will be significantly decreased, and in some cases, it will be totally eliminated. In the case of food preservation, the use of nuclear energy will help to retard or destroy the growth of the harmful microorganisms without deteriorating its quality and maintaining its nutritional content.

We can finally conclude that nuclear power as a source of energy can be beneficial to the planet earth as it protects the air quality, reduces the carbon emissions, helps in criminal investigation, useful in the agricultural field, used in medical diagnosis and treatment, and many more.

Let’s start with the concept of using fossil fuels as an energy source. Fossil fuels are the traditional source of energy and will be no longer present for the future generations because of its inappropriate usage. Moreover , the usage of fossil fuels is really hazardous as it releases the hazardous substance upon burning which causes serious health problems and affects the environment badly.

So, this is the reason why I believe in shifting from fossil fuels to nuclear power as a source of energy. The fact that it can be recycled and reused for the electricity generation is the main reason for this belief. Moreover, the effects will be long- lasting and cause significantly less environmental damage as compared to the usage of fossil fuels. It is observed that the small amount of nuclear material can produce a huge amount of energy and a negligible amount of residue is left behind which cannot cause any kind of environmental damage. These power plants require less maintenance cost and can run for a long time period to give the maximum output.

In short, it is clearly visible that nuclear power will be advantageous to modern civilization on a global scale and will replace the non-reusable materials that are of course going to be depleted. Thus, I entirely accept the fact that using nuclear power as a source of energy is the primary and the least expensive energy source.
