Model Answer 1

Corruption is present from ages and is a common disease among several nations. There are several causes for corruption which includes regulations, tax and licensing systems. Monopoly of a group of people, the lack of transparent laws and processes, increasing population and poverty level. This might include greed of money, series and other factors like education. Corruption has ruined the life of many people including the ones who commit and the victims of corruption. The most common cause of any type of corruption is either the desire to make quick money or greed. Some people fall into the trap of corruption due to the need of the hour. For example, a person is working hard to make ends meet. Suddenly he requires a huge amount of money due to some family emergency. This might push him into earning easy money which will in turn lead to corruption. Once the person becomes successful, it becomes an easy way and they start practicing the same. The guilt goes away. This also happens due to the fear of no punishment. There are several ways to control this. The government needs to ensure that there are strict laws in place against crimes like bribery. Moral guilt might not be renewed but the fear of punishment can stop these corruptions. There are many well known people in the society who take bribes. For them, their reputation matters. If punishment cannot be imposed, the fear of losing the reputation also will bring the corruption rate down. Media plays a very important role in such situations. If some high ranked official is found taking bribes. It should be posted all over the media and proper punishment should be given. Not only that, the media can also post stories of people who have become successful without taking a bribe. Corruption can only be eliminated from society by making stringent rules and sharing inspiring stories of how to become successful without corruption.

Model Answer 2

One of the most common forms of corruption in today’s world is taking bribes. There have been multiple ways to stop this but it seems that bribery always finds its way to creep in the society. Few years ago, bribe was not a very common word among people. This has changed over the years and bribery is becoming a concern for society. It is observed in all the sectors of the society starting from government sectors to private offices. One of the main causes is that the government employees are paid with less salary. Which forces them to take bribes for the work they are doing. This slowly spreads through the department and spoils the office culture. The difference in salary structure between the public and the private sector influences workers to take out extra money whenever possible. For example, my colleague was caught taking a bribe. He was forced to take the bribe for the treatment of his children. While informing the authorities about this, he said that he could not make the ends meet with the mere salary that he was getting. Suddenly his son fell sick and he needed more money for the treatment. That was the reason for him taking the bribe. This corruption has spread not only for the people taking the bribe. This is caused due to various factors like increased price of goods, fuel and groceries. The people who are giving the bribe are also equally responsible. I think that government and private jobs should have equal salary structures. With increased price, the earnings of the employees should also increase. This will help them to cope up and make the ends meet. The government should take care of such things. The laws should be strict enough to stop bribery. The tax department should make sure that everyone is paying their taxes. This money can be used to build hospitals, schools and other helpful resources for people. The government sponsored centers should provide free education and free treatment. Providing these resources to people will help in solving corruption like bribery.

Model Answer 3

Corruption has become one of the most discussed topics for authorities and the government. There are several factors for which people become corrupted. These include illiteracy, following shortcuts to solve problems and earning money. One such corruption is the monopoly where a group of people try to control the chain of commands as per their wish. There are cases where corporate giants engage in bribes. There are also situations where they exercise their power wrongfully. The corporate actors use sophisticated legal means to exercise power over the public. By lobbying, exerting media influence, sponsoring think tanks, paying speaking fees, or even creating public dependencies on the corporation. These behaviors are known as the “Influence market” which is a big part of corporate corruption. I have known the manager of a reputed multinational company who influenced the stocks of his own company to gain profit. The person increased the price of the stocks and then sold his share which was 40% of the company. This is a classic example of monopoly as he used his power to manipulate the stocks. This is a huge scam and the investigative agencies should be more aware of such scams. There are multiple ways by which such corruption can be controlled. The authorities should be rigid on laws. The moral guilt goes away for such people and hence, strict punishment has to be imposed. These can also be controlled if the person in power feels that there is a threat to his position. Media and news channels need to broadcast such news so that the person feels guilty and ashamed to face society. In conclusion, any and all sorts of crimes are committed when there is no fear of punishment. The authorities should induce fear in the minds of the people and harsh punishment can do that.
