Topic: Computers are widely used in education and some people think that teachers do not play an important role in the classroom. To what extent do you agree?

Model Answer 1

Computers have become an indispensable part of education. Technological advancement has made learning in school even more fun. I do not however concur that teachers do not play an important role in schools. No amount of technology can ever replace the teacher. In the following paragraphs, I intend to support my views with my arguments. It is an undeniable fact that teachers can never lose their importance. In learning and practicing more complex ideas, the computer is not adequate. It can tell if the answer is right or wrong but it cannot tell where the student went wrong. Tasks involving reasoning cannot be taught using computers. Moreover, teachers add their own knowledge gained through experience to that of books and other resources. Furthermore, teachers can stimulate interest and it is an undeniable fact that interested stimulated people tend to learn more. They can keep students focused on studying. A student studying by himself may get bored and stop studying. Teachers can provide a faster and simpler way to present information to the students. They can come down to the level of a student and so are definitely better than computers. What is more, teachers are role models for students. They are scholars in action. They do not teach academic subjects, but also many social skills. On the other hand, it is also true that the use of computers in today's classroom is also the need of the day. Teachers should use computers to add innovation to their teaching methods. Powerpoint presentations can make even dull and boring subjects seem interesting. So computers and teachers should not be treated as rivals to each other. They should play a complementary role so that today's classrooms become very interesting. To conclude, computers can certainly not replace teachers in the classroom.

Model Answer 2

With an advance in technology, education has also been upgraded to make students' lives easier and the process of learning even more streamlined. Nowadays, an increasing number of students rely on computers for research and to produce a perfect paper for school purposes. Others have decided to leave the original way of learning and to get knowledge through online schools. These changes in the learning process have brought a special concern regarding the possible decrease in the importance of teachers in the classroom.

Some people believe the role of teachers started to fade because computers have been helping some students to progress in their studies quicker than when compared with an original classroom. For example, in the same classroom, students have different intellectual capacities, thus some would be tied to a slow advance in their studies because of others’ incapacity of understanding. In this way, pupils could progress in their acquisition of knowledge at their own pace using computers instead of learning from teachers. However, the presence of a teacher is essential for students because human contact influences them in positive ways. Firstly, students realize that they are not dealing with a machine but with a human being who deserves attention and respect. They also learn the importance of studying in groups and respecting other students, which helps them to improve their social skills. Moreover, teachers are required in the learning process because they acknowledge some students’ deficiencies and help them to solve their problems by repeating the same explanation, giving extra exercises, or even suggesting a private tutor. Hence, students can have a bigger chance of not failing a subject. In conclusion, the role of teachers in the learning process is still necessary. It will continue to be so even in the future because no machine, even computers can replace human interaction and the benefits that it entails.

Model Answer 3

The education system is upgrading along with the advances in technology. The way of learning today has changed with the use of technology, especially with the addition of computers. The search for information has become very easy, and interesting, as data is available simultaneously. The experts are making computers more intelligent and powerful day by day. In my opinion the role of teachers will never disappear in any time but their role will be changed according to time. Nobody can disagree with this statement that learning from computers and the internet is more amusing and convenient for students and professionals. It makes the situation a relaxed and stress-free situation for students for assignment and project preparation and for professionals for making different types of official works. Furthermore, a person can get a lot of valuable and necessary information related to any area of study in a short time, which is impossible without computers. In addition advanced level students can approach online classes, where a teacher delivers a well-prepared lecture to the student. This is a great opportunity that computers provide to professionals so that they can attend online classes besides their jobs. The computer has facilitated the role of teachers at the primary level as well as at the advanced level because teachers develop their capabilities and skill while reading different materials developed by experts. To summarize my opinion, the role of teachers will change but their complete absence would not be possible as pupils cannot learn effectively and in an efficient way without the supervision and guidance of a good teacher. Especially at the elementary level, the role of a teacher is very important, because at this stage students need more guidance from teachers. To conclude, without the proper guidance and assistance of the teachers education can become tougher for students and the education sector might as well tank leading to deteriorating education quality.
