Around the second world war, this idiom came into notice. This idiom denotes that the soldiers need to fight and do everything possible against the enemy soldiers in order to win the battle. The original idiom was known as “everything but the kitchen stove”. The references to the original idiom were found in 1894 in a magazine named the Jeffersonville National Democrat.
