Band 8 IELTS Answer

The illustrated maps show how Portview, a beach community, has changed during two distinct time periods (1990 and 2010). Over the course of 20 years, there were considerable improvements to both the infrastructure and facilities.

Elvin Street split Portview town in half in 1990. While the majority of the region was vast farmland, on the western side a golf course was built with a modest resort on the far north side. Elvin Street also has a retail centre and a swimming pool next to it. Waterfront Street, which cut through the eastern side and headed directly to the Pier, provided a haven for small boats. A small café was built on the south side, and several stores were added on the north.

The resort was upgraded to 5-star hotels, and the golf course and café both had their sizes increased on the map from 2010 to reflect significant upgrades. The commercial centre was expanded, while the farmland was transformed into a sizable park with plenty of trees, water features, two walks, and seating areas. While a new parking lot was being built directly across from the hotels, two more swimming pools were also erected. Another pier was constructed on the south side of Waterfront Street, and there were alterations made to the street's stores on both sides.

The figures show changes that Portview, a seaside community, underwent between 1990 and 2010, compared to how it was in 1990.

Overall, it is evident that the town underwent noticeable alterations to seem ultra-modern and to better serve its citizens.

People could access the eastern coast through Waterfront Street in 1990 from Elvin Street, which divided the town in half. A small café was located to the south of the street, and there were several stores to the north. A modest resort, a sizable pool, and a shopping centre were the structures in the west. A huge field sat next to the resort's modest golf course on the resort's western edge.

The café was pushed further south in 2010 by the opening of additional stores on Waterfront Street to the south. The other additions in the eastern Portview were a parking park at the north and a second Southside pier. The modest resort to the north had been transformed into a five-star hotel. Further, the mall had been transformed into a retail complex, and the swimming pool had been transformed into a swimming area with three pools. The golf course was extended and the farmland was turned into a sizable park to the immediate west of the hotel.

Band 6.5 IELTS Answer

The maps show Portview's changes between 1990 and 2010 as a beach community. After the building, the town as a whole has seen a discernible shift.

Elvin street, which ran from the north to the south end and was connected to the Waterfront street to the southwest. It can be seen running parallel to the sea on the maps, which can be seen to be located to the southwest. A new shop and a Southside pier were erected to the south of Waterfront Street after construction in 2010, on the west side of the Elvin road. A former shop and a Northside pier on the north side of Waterfront Street remained unchanged. To the north, a parking area for cars had been built, and the size of the café that had been there before had been increased.

In 2010, the farmland to the west of the Elvin road had been cleared to create room for a large park area. A narrow pathway ran through the area from the northeast to the south. A swimming pool was there in the same place to the southeast of the park, but due to the two more swimming pools being built there, it was smaller in size. A sizable shopping complex was built next to the former mall. In addition, a 5-star hotel took the place of a resort next to the street to the north. While the surrounding golf course's layout stayed the same but expanded in size.
