Band 7 IELTS Answer

The two pie charts above demonstrate the reasons given for online and in-store shopping. From the pie chart, we can easily determine that the most common reason for shopping online was to save time. It consists of just above one third of the total percentage. The number of people who do online shopping in order to avoid the queue is 31%. Around just above a fifth of the people said 24/7 availability was why they shop online, while the lowest proportion of respondents, 14%, cited greater variety.

If we look at the pie chart of in-store shopping, we see 40% did so because they could get a feel of the product. The lowest percentage were savings on the delivery cost accounting to just 8% of peoples’ reasons to visit a store. 35%, which is the second highest reason, said that talking to a salesperson was the most important factor in their choosing to shop in-store. While only 17% believed that they will get a greater variety if they do in-store shopping. The only similar reason that we can see from both the graphs is greater variety.

Band 7 IELTS Answer

There are two charts which give various reasons to shop in-store and online. If we check the pie charts, we can see that in online shopping, most people did it because they could save time. 34% of the people agreed to this. The next highest reason to shop online is avoiding queues. The number stood at 31% of the population. The next highest reason was 24/7 shopping. 21% of the people agreed that online shopping was convenient because of all day and night shopping. The least number of people , 14%, agreed that online shopping has a great variety of things to shop from. Now, if we look at the in-store shopping, the only common factor is the greater variety between the two. In-store shopping gets 17% vote for greater variety. The highest number of people agreed that they did in-store shopping so that they could touch the item. The number accounted for 40%. The second highest was 35%. The reason is that they could talk to a salesperson and get to know the product. This is one of the distinct features of in-store shopping. Very few people were concerned about the delivery cost. Only 8% agreed that they did in-store shopping to save the delivery cost of online shopping.

Band 6.5 IELTS Answer

The two pie charts illustrate the reasons given for choosing to shop online and to shop in- store.

We can see that the most commonly cited reason for shopping online was to save time. A slightly smaller number of people do so in order to avoid queues. The numbers stood at 34% and 31% respectively. 21% of the people said that they would prefer to do online shopping because it was available 24/7 or the whole day. They could shop during the day and at night. The lowest number of people agreed that online shopping gave a greater variety. The number stood at 14%.

In the pie chart of in-store shopping, we can see two reasons which take up 75% of the votes. The highest among them is that people can touch the item before shopping. This reason gets a vote of 40% single handedly. The second best was that people could talk to a sales person before buying a product. Savings on delivery costs represented just 8% of people. This shows the lesser number of concerns regarding delivery cost. Seven reasons were given for choosing to shop online or in a physical shop; only one reason - a greater variety - was the same. However, in-store shopping contributes to 17% of the total number.
