Topic: Celebrities such as actors and sports personalities earn a lot more than other professionals. Some people believe that this is unfair while others think that celebrities deserve to be paid more. Discuss both points of view and give your own opinion on the subject.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

Celebrities earn more money than other professionals and there are various reasons for that. Some people think that it is not fair but some think they deserve more money. In this opinion-oriented essay, we will discuss both views. Some individuals see nothing wrong with celebrities making more money. There are world-famous actors, singers, and athletes who make incredible sums of money. In reality, of all professions in the world, superstars earn some of the highest salaries. People who are well-known and entertained people always earn more than other professions. Not only do they earn for themselves, but they also contribute to the creation of jobs and revenue, despite the fact that to some it may appear unjust. For example, millions of dollars are made by advertising at major sporting events. Any large event always generates employment for those in the logistics and catering industries. Not only that, these events require all genres of people. They require managers, workers, laborers, and even cleaners.

Whenever these events are held, tourists from all around the world travel to the cities that hold these events. This automatically strengthens the economy of the country. Hence, global events like the Olympics or the World Cup of Football have the potential to raise the country’s economy by a huge margin. If we look at celebrities like film stars, the story is the same there. Tens of thousands of people are employed in the film industry as well. When a high-budget film is released which includes a superstar, people go to watch the movie. They travel in huge numbers to cinema halls. This helps the shopping malls and cinema houses to earn more. This in return helps the government of the country get more taxes. Celebrities frequently donate generously to charities, which is another regular occurrence.

People who disagree with paying celebrities large sums may claim that many of them lack real talent and are merely a byproduct of our culture's and media's obsession with celebrities. However, most celebrities are not qualified enough academically or professionally. They simply bank upon their skills to showcase themselves to the public thereby subsequently earning tonnes of money. It is also opined by some people that they are overpaid without any necessity. Additionally, many critics argue that they are heavily paid by various brands so that the products of the brands are endorsed by them to achieve the desired objectives.

I believe that any celebrity, be it a player or a movie star, has earned the place where they get more money. The people who watch them for their entertainment have given them that place. Sports stars go to International events and represent the country. Movies go to International film festivals where they earn respect. Personally, I think that all professions, including celebrities, should be paid salaries that are in line with the revenue they produce.

Band 6 IELTS Essay

It's a common misconception that those working in the entertainment sector are filthy rich. It is debatably true, even though we cannot generalize this to include everyone who enters the industry. I think there are a number of arguments in favor of them earning what they are paid. Our lives would be quite different without entertainment. Movies, music and sports are our escape from the monotony and dullness of our daily lives. They give us a realistic experience that is frequently larger than life through films, songs, concerts, and sports, which inspires us, motivates us, and gives us hope for a brighter future.

However, individuals who bring these stories to life, who spend months connecting the words and pairing them with the correct music, and people who go through hard training to bring out the greatest sport for us are frequently regarded to be just "fortunate"! I genuinely think that those who work hard to improve our entertainment should be compensated properly. In addition, the careers of athletes, actors, and musicians typically have shorter lifespans than those of teachers, doctors, and engineers. The amount of effort they put in and the performance they deliver therefore appear completely justifiable to me if they are paid more for the risk they take.

Having said that, I also believe that a select few other careers in the entertainment industry, such as those in the music and sports industries, should also be well compensated. Army officials, for example, who dedicate their life to their work, should be compensated handsomely as a token of respect for what they do for the general public. Additionally, positions with a lot of pressure and responsibility merit a high wage. Jobs requiring a high level of perception and expertise include those in medicine, politics, and teaching. Therefore, it's crucial to compensate them highly in order to draw such talent to these positions.

In conclusion, the aforementioned arguments strengthen my belief that those working in the entertainment industry get paid what they are due. To recruit and keep the necessary individuals motivated enough to choose these disciplines as their potential careers, other occupations that include high risk, responsibility, and skills should also be compensated highly.

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

People with celebrity status are thought to earn significantly more than regular professionals. For some, it is not acceptable. However, some people are of the opinion that because celebrities are compensated for living up to the public's expectations, their salaries are actually fairly substantial when compared to those of normal people. To support a suitable conclusion, the essay would present evidence for both of these points of view.

In the media and in sports, famous people typically make far more money than in other professions because, as many people have noticed, they deserve to. Such individuals put in a lot of effort to consistently amuse their audience. Celebrities occasionally face pressure to grow and maintain their fan following. These individuals also facilitate the flow of funds, resulting in the creation of numerous job possibilities and opportunities for profit. The generous financial contributions made by several of the celebrities help numerous charitable trusts. Therefore, celebrities contribute to the economy of the nation in question.

In light of the opposing viewpoint, many people believe that celebrities receive more publicity than the media is required to. A significant portion of profits and revenues are also paid to celebrities by businesses to promote their goods to the broader public. In other words, celebrities are employed by businesses so that the endorsements of their goods coincide with the company's marketing ploys.  There have also been cases of nepotism in Bollywood, the Indian film industry, which suggests that is recommended to play in films and receiving a fee in return is more valuable than having the talent to perform in films and make money.

It is impossible to draw a clear and simple conclusion regarding whether celebrities should be paid significantly more than normal workers after considering both points of view. According to my opinion, superstars should be compensated for both the amount of labor they put in and their talents and talent.
