Topic: Car ownership has increased so rapidly over the past thirty years that many cities in the world are now one big traffic jam. How true do you think this statement is? What measures can governments take to discourage people from using cars?

Model Answer 1

In recent times, science and technology have advanced a lot. With the advancement in technology, our lives have become much easier than what it was in the past. Over the past thirty years, the ownership of cars has rapidly increased. This over possession of cars has consequently increased the traffic on roads. In my opinion, this statement is true. I strongly think that the government should take the necessary steps to regulate the traffic on roads. With time, there is a huge increase in car ownership. Most people, especially youths, are very obsessed with cars. Most people own a car. They have several reasons which are personal and professional as well. The first reason is that with the ownership of cars, they have the authority to travel anywhere, anytime, they want. Taking public transport also leads to much more time than it is required to reach a certain destination. Secondly, the government has made car loans from banks very easy to access. It is very convenient and hassle-free these days to buy a car. As the availability and affordability of the car are easy, hence people tend to use them even for a short journey. This has led to the congestion of traffic. Also, another reason for traffic is the humongous number of vehicles on the road. Apart from private cars, there are public transport and carrier vehicles although it creates a huge traffic congestion. Also, the inadequate road infrastructure is a major reason for this congestion. I believe that the government should take necessary measures, and encourage local citizens to use public transport. Also, to lessen the use of private cars, governments should impose taxes, so that it can lessen the use of private cars. To conclude, I would like to say that I strongly believe due to this ownership of cars, traffic congestion has increased in recent years. However, I also think that the government should introduce cheaper public transport with better facilities to curb traffic congestion.

In modern times, overpopulation has become a big problem. Along with overpopulation, the over possession of private vehicles has to lead to traffic congestion. In my opinion, this statement is true. I strongly think that the government should take the necessary steps to regulate the traffic on roads. With time, there is a huge increase in car ownership. Most people, especially youths, are very obsessed with cars. Most people own a car. The standard of living has increased, so has the possession of liabilities. Car loans are easier and hassle-free. The government has made the infrastructure and better road facilities available. But this humongous possession of cars has made the traffic worse. People who get stuck in traffic find it difficult to reach their destination on time. Taking public transport also leads to much more time than it is required to reach a certain destination. Also, rash driving has increased over time. Though the government has taken necessary measures, still people do not obey the traffic rules. The daily newspaper is flooded with rash driving cases or accidents. The increase in motorbikes has to an extent added to the traffic jams these days. The government has incorporated many traffic rules to lessen the congestion. But I think there should be heavy taxation on private vehicle owners to reduce the number of private cars on the road. Also, the government must encourage people to use more and more public vehicles. Lastly, to conclude, in the last thirty years there is a rapid speed in globalization and hence the increase in private vehicle ownership. However, I also think that the government should introduce cheaper public transport with better facilities to curb traffic congestion.

Model Answer 3

It is seen that in the last decade the possession of private cars has drastically increased.

Car ownership has increased so rapidly over the past thirty years that many cities in the world are now one big traffic jam. I strongly believe that this statement is not true. The reason behind the traffic congestion is not only the possession of private cars. I believe that the increase in population, has led to the demand of facilities is also the reason behind the congestion. The government is trying to lessen the congestion, by introducing avoiding the usage of cars daily routine work. This is a great initiative. It would help reduce the excess use of fuel and its subsequent materials namely crude oil, diesel, and more. On the other hand, the owners of the cars must follow the rules. Regular checking of the vehicle must be done to avoid pollution as well. Also, I think that the Road Transport Authorities must put an age barrier for driving certain vehicles. Additionally, the government should initiate new plans such as electric cars, better roads, and cheap public transportation with better facilities that would encourage people to use public transportation. I firmly believe that along with the government local people should initiate and use public transport to reduce traffic congestion. Using metro, subways, bicycles can aid in reducing traffic. Lastly, to add, in the last thirty years there is a rapid speed in globalization and hence the increase in private vehicle ownership. However, I also think that both the government and the public can curb traffic congestion by using less private vehicles and more public transport.
