It is universally agreed upon that working from the comfort of our own homes is a privilege. Working from home in online mode means the staff gets more flexibility and have the option to opt for a timetable that suits their day-to-day routine. This means there is less stress to conform to the average 9-5 job which in turn helps boost their productivity. If the employees are happy, they will do their jobs more efficiently and timely, which is being overworked or exhausted.
Before this new mode of work became a concept, working mothers were one of the most affected by rigid scheduling and travel restrictions. Due to this new model of business, they can look after their children as well as be available to attend meetings in online mode. Without having to worry about missing anything official and important while also simultaneously being present for the kids.
Another great development is the controlled expenditure on electricity bills, equipment, etc. Conducting meetings online means everything you would require to present your work right there on your computer. This again boosts efficiency and increases the work completed as the tedious process of having physical documents printed or written is gone. And the expenses spared from these can be put into increased salaries and/or promotions. Resulting in happier employees and better, positive workspace and efficiency in the work being carried out.
Online discussions and forums can also invite people from around the globe who otherwise would not be able to physically be at a specific location. This can help broaden the scope and the reach of the company, giving it a lot more exposure and attention. While the internet can be a great tool, it can also be a major disadvantage for some. There is always the possibility of some obstacles that can limit the flow of information. Many factors can play into this. For example, even though India has made great strides in the field of technology, there are parts of the country where internet access is almost negligible. Not everyone can afford high-speed internet, and on top of that. There still is a part of the population that has almost no idea about the existence of the internet.
The issue of lagging or computer crashing due to this can cause disruptions in the flow of communication, limiting one’s ability to express themselves. In addition to that, there is also the issue that there is no physical guidance. The people may fail to fully grasp some of the skills as the training they receive online might not be applied properly in real scenarios. And since there is such limited room for practice, they may not even realize how much of what they’re doing is right or wrong. The reality is completely different from virtual classes, so their application may not be accurate.
A person’s body language greatly affects their conversation and how their information may come across. The absence of that element increases the risk of misunderstanding which may lead to missing key details. Online meetings also decrease our social skills. Without regular human contact. People might lose some important conversational abilities and personalities, which might ruin their ability to make connections later. These business meetings are more work-centric, so the chance of general talks and discussions is mostly not there.

Although there are a few drawbacks of this notion, the rewards far outweigh the drawbacks. Saving money and creating a positive workplace goes a long way in improving the company as a whole. Unnecessary costs of renting spaces and other expenses cease saving money as well as time to commute. A physical workplace has stringent rules regarding dress codes and general conduct. A t-shirt is far better and comfortable than dry-cleaned suites. People also get the chance to maintain their health. As the unnecessary expenditure on cafeteria and fast foods are replaced by home meals which are far more exceeding in health. A happy working environment means an efficient company that thrives in the long run along with a congenial business environment.
Although some disadvantages remain that cannot be fulfilled. For example- the absence of face-to-face customer interaction is a void that cannot be filled by any amount of exuberant virtual display. And the inability of being able to test out goods beforehand is absent. But again, a few disadvantages are far outweighed by the many positives. A company with a positive work attitude is a company that thrives and does wonders in the business world. The lack of stress means the work done is more impressive and meets expectations.
Flexible working hours mean reduced pressure on the working people to present unreasonable high expected work. Online mode is cost-effective, time-saving, and a convenient mode of communication that is being adopted by more companies. With the proper resources, one can remain informed, trained, and updated regardless of their location, time zone, and financial situation.
Some drawbacks like decreased socialization can be solved by holding more general meetings between clients and employees. Where the rigid business notion is given up for lighter, interactive sessions to grow more personalization amongst the people.
