Building should Serve a Purpose than to Look Beautiful IELTS Writing Task 2 consists of three sample answers provided below. The architects should focus less on the aesthetics and more on the long term goals such as fulfilling its duty as a house, an office, etc. Appearance only works for so long but it is the inside of the building that will make or break the deal.

The building should have furniture and interior so that people can find comfort. However, the architects must not toss the aesthetics outside the window as they also carry some importance. The appearance of the building also plays a part in attracting people. Let’s assume if the architects abandon the outer appearance of the building and focus entirely on the inside of the building. Will it realistically be a head turner? People will avoid the building the moment they set their eyes on it and will not even bother to see how hard the architects have worked on furnishing the building.

Both aspects go hand in hand. In the case of high rise buildings, the purpose behind their construction of the buildings is to accommodate a large number of people. It goes without saying that a high rise building will have a large number of floors which will be used by people. For the construction of high rise buildings, the builders must use the space they have in an effective manner.

Most buildings are scrutinized in a number of tests in order to be safe for accommodation. Architecture is highly regarded in modern society. Buildings like the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the Empire State Building in the USA are a landmark in architecture. We all have seen how majestic they are from the outside as well as from the inside. The job of the builders is to construct their buildings in such a way that it offers the maximum accommodating space to the people who will be living or working there. It should also have elevators to easily reach the floors without breaking a sweat.

In the current scenario, the jobs of architects have become very sophisticated as they have to make their buildings aesthetically pleasant as well as spacious from the inside. It is also a huge responsibility on their shoulders to make their buildings safe and durable. The buildings should be able to hold themselves against earthquakes. Ordinary buildings bring in less money than the ones that are visually appealing. First impression is an important thing. A building can be well furnished on the inside but if it does not attract the attention of the people through its appearance, then it is a lost cause.

Apart from the outward appearance, comfort is also a big factor in attracting people to the buildings. In the countries that are developed, more stress is laid on the quality, and not on cheap rates. The structure wise comparison should be kept in mind just as much as the functional comparison. Some of the buildings even attract tourists.

If these buildings lose their visual appeal then no one will visit them.

Buildings also add character to cities. They also have an enduring appeal. Historical buildings attract tourists because of their beauty. The tourists are attracted by the beauty and the story behind the buildings and are not concerned by the functional aspects.

A huge cost goes into the construction of the buildings but at the end of the day, the comfort derived from them by their occupants is the result of all the efforts of the architects who put their precious time into the construction of these buildings.

These structures will be decorating the skyline for years and that goes for both historical buildings as well as buildings that are offices, houses, etc. The engineers should devote equal amounts of time in taking care of the aesthetic as well as the functional aspects.
