Topic: Some people think that books are losing importance as a source of information and entertainment. To what extent do you agree?

Band 9 IELTS Essay

Some people hold the opinion that books can't hold a significant place as a major medium for entertaining and enlightening. I wholeheartedly concur with the aforementioned assertion. The essay that follows will examine the justifications behind the aforementioned recommendation with pertinent instances.

First off, the abundance of internet content has diminished the significance of books as the primary source of knowledge and entertainment. People find it rather simple to read ebooks instead of reading and carrying the hard versions in their hands. Because many websites are packed with content present in these paperbacks. Additionally, the variety of content genres available online is limitless. And includes anything from general knowledge to fiction to comics, giving users a wide range of options. Depending on whether they want to be entertained, learn new information, or lose themselves in a make-believe world.

In addition to the aforementioned, books no longer hold a significant position as a source of knowledge, awareness, and entertainment. Due to the emergence of more avant-garde reading techniques. The experience of readers has improved as a result of the availability of Kindle ebooks, who also find them to be quite relaxing to the eyes. A sizable industry has also been taken over by the audiobooks that are offered on websites and in other hybrid applications. Nowadays, many prefer listening to reading since it allows them to complete more things at once. This facilitation is quite helpful at this time when people's schedules are so jam-packed. For instance, many women listen to audiobooks while cooking in the morning, per a statistical survey.

In a nutshell, I and a few others believe that the internet is providing people with ebooks of various disciplines on a single platform. Broadening their choice and enabling them to have a nice read. Causing paperbacks to lose their significance as a means of information transmission and entertainment. Additionally, because of the accessibility of numerous platforms. Like Kindle and audiobooks, people are choosing to forgo paperbacks in favor of simpler ways to study.

As a result of people's decreasing reliance on books as a source of knowledge. And enjoyment in this technological age, books are becoming less and less popular. But I think it's important to never undervalue the value of books in terms of knowledge and enjoyment.

First and foremost, books continue to play a crucial role in educating people. First, a lot of people still value books as a source of knowledge across the globe. In fact, tens of thousands of books are published annually to meet the need of those seeking novel or in-depth knowledge. A further indication that the burning thirst for knowledge-packed books has persisted is the fact. That international bestsellers sell thousands of copies each year to avid readers around the world. Second, books are regarded as the best way to extend horizons in locations where people have limited access to the internet. There is no doubt that students who attend schools in rural areas where the Internet is scarcely accessible. Totally rely on books as the most portable and cost-effective way to facilitate their studies and, as a result, learn more.

The fact that many individuals still consider reading to be a pleasant diversion is another aspect. First off, an increasing number of readers are relishing the cosy, intimate experience of reading books. According to a recent survey, 69% of people would prefer to spend their time alone in a room. With a good book then engage in other forms of interactivity, including playing sports. More and more people are turning to books as a better form of entertainment since technology-driven hobbies pose major health concerns to people.

I still firmly believe that reading books is a fantastic way to amuse yourself and fill your head with much-needed knowledge. Despite some people's claims that there is less need for books as a source of information and enjoyment.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

It is frequently believed that books are becoming less significant as a source of knowledge and entertainment in the modern world. I firmly concur, in my view. I'll go over my three main justifications in this essay.

First of all, since technology has advanced and most people are addicted to their phones. You can be sure that the majority of people will be able to view any ideas that are placed online.

Because the world has become a global village, ideas can be quickly transmitted to the entire planet. Via the web without having to physically move boxes of books. For instance, some people did not learn of the 1970 military coup in Nigeria until a few days later. However, last week, the news of a girl who had been shot by thieves spread quickly via the internet. Alerting the entire country—as well as those people living abroad—before a full day had passed.

Second, rather than maintaining a physical library, many people these days rely significantly on the data storage capabilities of their smart gadgets. As a result, it is simple to obtain the information that has been stored. Unlike printed copies, which are bulky and difficult to transport. For instance, when my colleague and I were debating the type of government Nigeria had in the 1970s. We were both able to resolve our disagreement by conducting an online search. To verify our literature texts, we didn't need to go back to our homes or to the library.

The last thing I'd like to mention is that people prefer digital copies of texts because hard copies can be easily stolen or destroyed by flooding. For instance, the extremely intriguing book I just bought last week was taken at a friend's party! This would not have happened if it had been saved on the cloud.

In conclusion, due to the numerous limitations that books can have, as described above. People are progressively turning away from using them as a source of information and amusement.
