Model Answer 1

The graph shows the birth rate and death rate of a particular European country over a century from 1950 to 2050. The graph is plotted in a way that the X-axis represents the years and the Y-axis denotes the total births and deaths in those years given along the X-axis. A graph is a visual representation of data which helps people to understand the change very vividly over a time space. This graph serves a similar purpose as well.
In the above line graph, we can clearly see that in the first two decades from 1950 to 1970, there has been a steady increase in the total births. The line has a steep positive slope and it peaked in the 1970s when the total births hit a record high mark of 10000000. Over the span of 100 years, the population of newborns was the highest in the 1970s. But right after peaking, the birth rates started steadily decreasing over the next 2 decades. It’s a steep negative slope from 1970 to 1990. The birth rates kept sharply dropping and hit a record low in the 1990s. Post 1990s, the birth rate is seen to have stabilized at around 7000000 and is expected to remain stable in the future till 2050,according to predictions.
For the line representing the death rate, we can see that till the 2030s the red line is parallel to the X-axis. Meaning the death rate has been stable at around 7000000 till then, and after that it is predicted to rise to 8000000 by 2050.
Therefore, we can conclude that the factors influencing birth rates kept varying over time. Resulting in fluctuations or something particularly influenced the birth rates when it peaked positively or negatively. But it is expected to stabilize. Whereas, the death rate remained constant for a long period of time. And is expected to rise in the future slightly. It would be a good idea to look into those specific decades. When the birth rates fluctuate the most, to reach a conclusion about it.

Model Answer 2

The graph in context is a line graph showing the total births and total deaths over a period of 100 years to demonstrate the trends and make conclusions. The blue line represents the birth rate, whereas the red line represents the death rate. The lines track the changes which happen over the years. A line graph is referred to as a line plot or a line chart. This above graph is a typical example of a line graph where the horizontal axis records the interval change. Whereas the vertical axis represents population points.
The graph in context, shows 2 lines - one in blue and the other in red. The blue line indicates the birth rates, whereas the red line indicates the death rates. From the graph, we can see that the 2 lines cannot be correlated. The birth rates have several fluctuations over the time period, while the death rates have remained constant over that same period of time. Similarly, even when the total births and the total deaths are equal from the 2010s to the 2030s. We can infer anything definitively, as right after that we see only a slight increase in death rates till the 2050s. It might be possible to find some correlation in the future as the birth rate is expected to be constant in the future, but there’s no certainty about it.
One glance at the graph, we can infer that over the span of 100 years, the birth rates have fluctuated sharply before stabilizing in the last 4 decades. The birth rates were highest during the 1970s and the lowest during the 1990s. The death rates have been constant at around 7000000 from 1950s to 2030s and a slight rise in the number in the next 2 decades.
The graph helps us visualize the birth rates and deaths rates clearly and see the change in the numbers over the span of 100 years.

Model Answer 3

Everyday we collect tons of data, but that data will be of no use if we can't understand the changes and the patterns in it. Graphs are a way to understand data with more clarity and make even a layman understand the meaning of numerous data through one single diagram. The graph in question is one such example. It is a line graph which compares the birth rates and deaths from the 1950s and makes predictions about the same till the 2050s.
It is clear from a cursory glance that the total births and the total deaths during a particular decade. Was nearly the same with slight fluctuations in the birth rates. The birth rates are seen a steep increment and also a slight continuous decrease over different periods of time. When the death rate was constant around a particular figure.
Before understanding a line graph and how two components are compared on a line graph. One needs to understand the several components of a line graph. Firstly, the title which gives a brief explanation of what the graph is about. Which in this case is that the graph is showing the total births and total deaths of a European country from 1950-2050. Secondly, the legend- which tells us what the 2 lines depicts and they are the birth rates and death rates in the given graph. Lastly, what the X-axis and the Y-axis indicate - in the given graph. The x-axis represents the time period in which the changes are plotted. And along the y-axis which represents the population of people in terms of new births and deaths in the given span of time.
After understanding the background of the given line graph. We can clearly see that 2 lines don't show any similar behavior nor are they constant over the given time interval. Though the death rates have been pretty stable, with slight increments expected in the future according to forecast.
Overall, the birth rate has seen fluctuations before getting stabilized and the death rates have been pretty stable over the same time.
