Biotechnology Companies Developing Different Types Of Genetically Modified IELTS Writing Task 2 consists of three sample answers provided below. The task requires the candidates to provide a tentative and argumentative answer for the question. The sample answers comprises two parts: Introduction and body. The introduction is a brief description about the topic. The body contains argumentative statements and tentative answers to support the test-taker's perspective.
IELTS writing task 2 evaluates candidates based on the knowledge and views they have expressed. The areas that candidates are assessed on are grammar, vocabulary, and style. IELTS writing score is marked based on band scores. The band scores range from 0 to 9. Since the topics are very diverse, candidates must go through IELTS Writing practice papers to become familiar with a lot of topics.

Topic: Biotechnology companies all over the world are developing different types of genetically modified (GM)crops. However, not enough is known about the effects of these crops on our health and on the environment. Interfering with nature in this way should be prohibited. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Band 7 IELTS Essay

Due to rapid population growth, some believe genetically modified food is the answer, while others believe that it is a curse for the masses and the environment. I believe that using biotechnology to change the gene make-up of plants may be more harmful than beneficial to the human race. This essay will go over the topic in detail, using relevant examples to demonstrate points and back up arguments.

The introduction of genetically modified crops has become a significant accomplishment in the field of biotechnology. Despite the fact that this has many advantages in our agricultural sector, many people question its edibility. In my opinion, the development of GM crops is a boon to our society for a variety of reasons. Due to their manipulation of the natural biological growth and cultivation processes, some people believe genetically modified crops pose a health risk.

Others believe that it could have fatal health consequences. Even though these are all possibilities that could happen, they cannot be justified as such because they have yet to be proven. On the contrary, the majority of people believe that GM crops have many advantages that outweigh their negative effects. Biotechnology professionals, for example, have demonstrated that many of these high yielding crops have high nutritive value when compared to natural crops. Furthermore, according to recent research, genetically modified crops are resistant to certain pests and insects that commonly attack our agricultural fields. Furthermore, the negative effects of the imposed crops are still being researched. To summarize the aforementioned reasons, I strongly believe that the technology of producing GM crops is more useful in both agriculture and health care. In the long run, by using these crops, we can eradicate diseases like malnutrition from our society.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

Biotechnology corporations significantly raise the standard of living by creating genetically modified organisms (GMO). Some argue that this initiative poses unproven risks to public health and the environment. Regardless of this side effect, I believe that this ultimate method can provide some benefits, so it should not be stopped.

It is undeniable that genetically modified crops endanger minor aspects of human health and the environment. GM food may be expensive from an economic standpoint. Furthermore, the use of pesticides and herbicides is increasing. These pesticides are poisonous to humans as well as wildlife. Pesticide spraying, for example, is causing serious health problems for people and other forms of life in South America. As a result, this could lead to chronic diseases or even the emergence of new diseases in future generations. As a result of genetically engineered foods, some people may experience allergic reactions and other side effects that have not been studied. Another point worth mentioning is that GMOs are bad for the soil.Consequently, this method will require more nutrients and vitamins than traditional breeding, resulting in barren soil over time. As a result, GMO has absorbed all of the earth's nutrients. Nonetheless, I would argue that genetically modified organisms would benefit both public health and the environment. For starters, there is a dramatic increase in nutrient amounts, which means that people can obtain more valuable and rich nutrient substances. People may be able to maintain satiation in this manner, putting an end to global hunger. Furthermore, environmental factors such as climate change are no longer a major concern for humans. In other words, GMOs enable people to maintain a consistent healthy diet all year long by making foods available during unusual growing seasons. To summarize, I understand that some people are concerned about the consequences of man-made food because the results of such a product are known. The obvious benefits that genetically modified organisms bring to our health and the environment, on the other hand, are completely precise. As a result, it is not recommended that it be prohibited.

Band 9 IELTS Essay

The ever-increasing population growth creates an insatiable demand for food products.Worldwide, biotech collaborations are improving genetically modified crops that some believe are harmful to our bodies and the environment. In this essay, I argue that using technology to alter plants is extremely dangerous to the human race.

To begin with, genetically modified crops will be more expensive than conventional crops. Furthermore, pesticides will be used in large quantities, which will reduce soil productivity. As a result, soil erosion will occur, and farmland will become unusable after a certain number of years. For example, wild animals that frequently eat the remaining parts of crops will face serious problems because it will harm their health. As a result, if this process continues, no cultivation will be possible in the near future.Second, it will have a negative impact on human health. Furthermore, they may be toxic to animals such as bees and butterflies. For example, bees are currently the most well-known source of pollination. However, they will be unable to provide us with pure honey, and the food items will be deficient in all essential proteins and vitamins. To summarize, I believe that genetically modified foods have negative effects on health and are not an environmentally friendly solution. This mismanagement is taking place because the leaders of each country want a greater demand for food supplies. Second, the long-term effects of genetically modified foods are still being studied. Furthermore, they may be toxic to certain organisms, such as bees and butterflies. For example, research has shown that bees, as an important pollinator of many food crops, may face extinction. As a result, many developing countries worldwide are shifting toward ecological farming, which may be a better and safer way to feed the poor and hungry.

Overall, I believe that genetically modified foods can affect our health and well-being, despite the FDA's claims to the contrary. The claim of ending world hunger is false because it is caused by mismanagement and a lack of resources rather than a lack of food production.
