As summarized in the diagram, the percentage of students proficient in a foreign language is highest in India, about 68 male students and 56% male students have ability to use a second language. Romania has about 65% female students and only more than 40% of male students are experts in another language. What's interesting to note is the scale. The number of students with foreign language ability is higher among females than males overall. The exception is Thailand where this proportion of male students is 30%. Vietnam has a higher rate of students knowing a second language than China, and Russia. The lowest percentage of these students reside in China, where only about 20-30%.

First, one of the most notable features of the diagram is that Thailand is the only country where the proportion of male students is just over 30%, higher than the proportion of female students (27%) who know a second language. . When it comes to China, this country has the lowest percentage of students knowing a second language, with this figure for boys being 30% and girls being only half that number. Interestingly, about 35% of Vietnamese and Russian students know foreign languages. Finally, students from India and Romania have significantly higher rates than the other four countries mentioned in the chart, ranging from 40 to about 68%. About 68% of female students in India can speak a foreign language, and this figure in Romania is about 65%.

After India and Romania, Vietnam has the third-highest proportion of foreign language speakers, accounting for just over half of the population for women and over a third for men. In Russia, the ratio of men and women who can speak foreign languages is slightly lower than in Vietnam. Finally, the lowest percentage of foreign language speakers is in China. In short, the proportion of foreign language speakers varies significantly by nationality, and there are often more women than men.
