As summarized in the diagram, the percentage of students proficient in a foreign language is highest in India, about 68 male students and 56% male students have ability to use a second language. Romania has about 65% female students and only more than 40% of male students are experts in another language. What's interesting to note is the scale. The number of students with foreign language ability is higher among females than males overall. The exception is Thailand where this proportion of male students is 30%. Vietnam has a higher rate of students knowing a second language than China, and Russia. The lowest percentage of these students reside in China, where only about 20-30%.

Interestingly, about 35% of Vietnamese and Russian students know foreign languages. Finally, students from India and Romania have significantly higher rates than the other four countries mentioned in the chart, ranging from 40 to about 68%. About 68% of female students in India can speak a foreign language, and this figure in Romania is about 65%.
