Before understanding a line graph and how two components are compared on a line graph, one needs to understand the several components of a line graph. Firstly, the title gives a brief explanation of what the graph is about. Which in this case is that the graph is showing the average daily maximum temperatures in 4 cities. Namely Auckland and Christchurch in New Zealand and London and Edinburgh in the United Kingdom. Secondly, the legend- which tells us what the 4 lines depict and they are the average daily maximum temperatures. Over a period of 12 months, with each line representing one city each. Lastly, what the X-axis and the Y-axis indicate - in the given graph, the x-axis represents the time period.
