The line graph shows statistics on moviegoing across different age groups in the US between 2000 and 2011. In general, attendance increased for all demographic categories. With younger people particularly teenagers and young adults going to the movies the most frequently. People had a tendency to visit the movies less frequently as they aged.
In the beginning of the period, those between the ages of 15 and 24 outperformed all other demographics with 15% of moviegoing visits. This number then gradually increased to above 30% by 2004 and varied between 35%. As well as 50% for the following several years before reaching its peak of 52%. In contrast, the number of people who went to the movies after they were 35 climbed somewhat but steadily. From 1% to 13% at its peak during the course of the study.
The trends for moviegoers aged 7 to 14 and those aged 25 to 35 were comparable throughout, with the former starting twice as high at 10%. After thereafter, attendance was inconsistent but generally up until 2005 when there was a rise to 30%. From there, it fluctuated before peaking at 38% in 2010 and finally reaching 30% in 2011. The latter group showed a fluctuating pattern with comparable percentages, crossed twice over with the aforementioned age range. And ended the period with a partial recovery to a 30% figure that was the same.
