Topic: Studying art in school also improves students’ performance in other subjects, because it is easier for multi-skilled students to learn new things. That’s why art should be obligatory in schools. Do you agree or disagree?

Band 7 IELTS Essay

Some people think that arts education should be made mandatory in schools since it will enhance kids' overall results. And because they are multi-skilled, they can quickly pick up new skills. However, I disagree with this point of view, and I'll explain why in the sentences that follow.

The ability of art classes to enhance students' social skills is one of their most significant benefits. This is due to the fact that fields like music and theatre would assist them in getting over their fears. And it will help boost their confidence to interact with others or engage an audience. For instance, a young person gains confidence when they perform in front of a large group of people. On the other hand, for individuals who have never been in such a circumstance, it would be intimidating to even stand on the stage. In addition, arts like painting and drawing would develop their imagination and inventiveness.

However, the arts shouldn't be required in schools because doing so would put kids under pressure, which would lower their performance. For instance, technical studies demand a great deal of focus and effort. And if such pupils are made to take music or dance classes, it will burden them and make it harder for them to focus on their core classes. Therefore, the arts might be made optional so that anybody who is interested can pursue them and profit from them. Not only would this lessen their tension, but it would also get them ready for a bright future.

To sum up, even if art classes might improve students' social skills and creative thinking, I still think they shouldn't be required as part of the curriculum. Because people naturally dislike being forced, and it would cause more harm than good.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

Activities during the school year frequently include art. It is commonly recognised that exposing kids to a variety of artistic mediums helps them pick up new skills. There are advantages and disadvantages to making art classes in schools required. But I believe students should have the freedom to pick the things they enjoy.

Children are first introduced to various forms of art during their school years through extracurricular activities like singing, dancing, and much more. Students learn to explore new abilities while participating in activities that make use of their creative thinking. They discover the value of perseverance and practise, two things needed to perfect any art form. For instance, a recent Cornell study indicated that pupils with a more well-rounded personality were those who excelled in both science and art form. Therefore, it is essential to make sure kids are exposed to many art genres while they are in school.

For many kids, though, going to school can also be a bit of a challenge. Students must balance their studies, extracurricular activities, and any chosen sports or hobbies. Some students have a strong preference for a particular branch of science and may also enjoy it as a pastime. Or perhaps they are balancing their time between academics and sports while playing on the school's sports team. For instance, practising on the court for countless hours is necessary to play basketball at the state level. Therefore, it is necessary to give students the chance to select based on their areas of interest.

In conclusion, participating in the arts fosters a student's creativity and performance from a variety of angles. Making art required, however, will ultimately overload them because some of them might be more active in sports or other things. Thus, it is preferable in my opinion to maintain art as an optional subject in schools.

Education is a lifelong process that helps people learn, gain information, and develop their character. Early exposure to an elective course like the arts is considerably more practical and could improve a child's academic performance overall. I disagree with the idea of adding a programme to the curriculum. Because there is a lot of competition and picking a course based on interest should be taken into consideration. The reasons I hold this opinion will be covered in this article along with any pertinent instances.

At first, students today must compete fiercely for a spot on an admission exam to continue their education after school. It takes consistent work beginning at a young age to pass the entrance exam in order to get into elite institutions. If a second course, such as the arts, was made required, it might divert students' attention from their main courses. As a result, the curriculum must be tailored to prepare the next generation for its prospects.

Additionally, each person has unique preferences and areas of interest, therefore it is always good to select a vocation that one is passionate about. If a subject is imposed upon them, it may cause a decline in their grade and further increase their stress levels. For instance, telling a sportsperson to take an arts and crafts class could impair their performance since they would be distracted and unable to concentrate. People find themselves comfortable and passionate about their work. Hence, a person's field of interest has a key impact on their ability to have a successful career and a fulfilling life.

To sum up, each course has advantages that could help students perform better overall. But a targeted curriculum needs to be developed using an awareness of students' needs rather than forcing them to choose a particular topic.
